18. I made it to four questions |
|
"Are we at war with terrorism?"
"Who is our enemy?"
"Is Iran our enemy?"
"I'm asking you as an American, not as a journalist (!! - P.), how much of a threat is Iran?"
At that point I ohforfuckssaked and went back to reading.

3. Obama would have better spent his time on the campaign trail. |
|
His appearence on the sexual deviates' show is NOT going to change anyones mind on how they vote. Those who watch Fucks news will not vote for Obama. They're much to stupid to figure out what he is saying.

Even Obama's awesomeness can't make up for O'Reilly's pomposity. I just couldn't sit through any of O'Reilly's ignorance any longer.

10. Obama doesn't suffer fools. It was fun to watch. |

I had no trouble watching him beat the pants off Bill. I especially like it when he says, "No-no-no-no-no-no! Now Bill..."

I didn't see it--thanks for posting that link to HuffPo. I can't believe BOR twisted Obama's arm somehow into opining that the surge is working "beyond our wildest dreams". I'll have to see it to believe it--just reading it is not enough.

19. Actually, he turned out to be the master of the pivot there... |
|
First of all, the "beyond our wildest dreams" line came only after Obama had gotten BillO to admit that the Iraq war should never have taken place. (I suspect heads were exploding all over the Fox News offices at that moment.) Then, he gave a textbook example of how to spin the inevitable Republican claim that "the surge worked": grant that, because violence decreased greatly, the surge "worked beyond our wildest dreams," but that it was because of factors beyond simply military firepower (our paying-off striking an agreement with Sunni leaders in Anbar province, for example) and that, while the drop in violence helped, the political policy still failed because the Iraqis didn't achieve a political reconciliation during that time, and that an Obama administration would make sure the latter was accomplished.
And he did it all with his characteristic cool, on several occasions getting BillO to stop his usual attempts to interrupt without losing his calm demeanor. In other words, he didn't let himself get pushed around, but he also didn't lose his temper and provide clips that could be used against him as a "hothead" or "lacking the temprament to be President." Throughout the excerpt, it was Obama who seemed to be in control of the proceedings, not the putative host.

12. Obama kicked ass. O'Reilly tried his usual tricks -- interrupting, talking over him, mistating |
|
him, and Obama kept coming right after him.
From the way some people were reacting here earlier, I thought Obama did horribly. Turns out he did really well, and it was a smart choice to face O'Reilly.

13. I will say this....In 2004 O'Reilly offered a half-hour to Kerry. |
|
Kerry declined.
O'Reilly opined after the election that Kerry would have won if he had gone on his shitty show.
What does this mean exactly?

He wouldn't let O'Lielly bully him or talk over him or allow those throw away digs to go unaddressed.
The body language is interesting too. They're both leaning forward and on the edges of their chairs. When Bill tries to pull his crap, Obama's got the long arm and the up-hand out.

20. If only for the reason that |
|
Obama can add another card to his deck of media appearances, this was a good move. McCain is cancelling left and right while Obama is stepping up to the plate and entering the lion's den.
He held is own, and a couple of times, Billo actually looked a bit taken back by Obama's tenacity and responses.
I think it will go into the win column for Obama when all is said and done.

Mr Maverick backs out of Larry King because one of his surrogates got beat up by a GIRL, and Obama goes into the Lion's den and gets the better of Bill (Satan lite) O'Reilly. Not very Maverick-y.
