My son almost tackled her when she got off the campaign bus on a stop during her last campaign for governor. To her credit, she got down at eye level to meet the two little kids who were outside (it was a real crush inside the restaurant, so my mom had taken my son outside to wait), and when he ran at her for a hug, she didn't fall over.

She even gave me a hug later, saying she'd pray for me in my cancer scare at the time. I will always respect her for being that real and that caring.

She always seems to treat/greet people, like she did your son, very warmly. One of the few politician I actually feel a connection to. I know things are bad here in Michigan but I think she wrongfully gets much of the blame. Her economic plan last year was a good one. The Republicans killed it. Every time she tries to fix something, they kill it. I'm not happy with her over the whole primary mess, since it's pretty obvious she was one of the bigger powers behind it, but I feel so bad for her trying to fix Michigan only to constantly butt heads with the damn Republicans.
