the first pic was way, way too much for me.
My husband and I had an argument over the phone the other night. He doesn't support Palin at all, let me say that up front. But we were talking about the Viking photo and he commented "she's from alaska, come on Michele." When I told him about the wolves thing, he was stunned. But you absolutely need to warn people about that. Wolves, to me, are wild dogs (I know they're different, but still...) I have friends with wolf hybrids, and that picture looked like my friends' pets, murdered.

I read a book, called "The Wolf" by Michael Fox, when I was a kid. Wolves have held a special place in my heart since I was a little girl. All animals do.
My husband and I are vegetarians and animal rights activists. This woman is sick, not because she hunts necessarily, but because aerial hunting is symptomatic of something fundamentally wrong one's brain. Hunting for food and to use an animal's skin is not wrong in my mind; shooting something for it's friggin' head, or shooting it from the air is just disturbing.

The Safari Club International, the number one canned hunting organization in the world (absolutely packed full of Republicans and Bush supporters) helped finance Palin's effort to overturn the ballot proposition that tried to ban wolf hunting from planes. Palin has in fact put a bounty on wolves.

Dick Cheney is a big canned hunter. Remember the story about him shooting tame "wild" birds brought up in captivity? And George Bush won the trophy of "Governor Of The Year" in 1999 from the Republican dominated Safari Club for making Texas the number one canned hunt paradise in the United States. His father George H.W. Bush showed up at the annual banquet of the Safari Club International in Arizona to accept the trophy on his son's behalf. George W. Bush and his father are both lifetime members of the Safari Club and Jeb Bush has supported their efforts in Florida.

George Bush even appointed the Safari Club International's chief lobbyist, Matthew J. Hogan to be acting director of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. How crazy is that, appointing the chief lobbyist of the number one canned hunting organization in the world to direct a fish and wildlife protective service?

The Safari Club has also joined forces with Palin to try to sue the federal government and overturn the protected status of polar bears. The Safari Club is infested with rich white sociopaths who love killing penned or defenseless animals in the open. This is not real hunting.

Like most fundies, she misinterprets God's instructions to Adam & Eve in Genesis to "take dominion over the earth" as "domination" or "do whatever the fuck you want" to all the animals, all the resources, etc.

But dominion and domination are not the same thing. What God really meant (if you presume He actually said it) was stewardship. "Look, I got an entire universe to run here, and I can't be babysitting you guys on Earth 24/7. Here's My creation. Take good care of it. God out."

This distinction needs to be made very clear when discussing the topic and going after what she does. Most people have no problems with killing wild animals for the purpose of food. Shooting wolves from helicopters is completely different; horrible.

We also need to keep in mind evangelical beliefs when it comes to killing animals. They believe all animals on this earth are for people to use however they wish. We are the superior beings; animals have no rights. The fundies won't care.

This kind of thing makes me sick. My grandfather was a hunter. And he sat in a deer blind for days or tracked deer. He refused to kill a nursing mother. He refused to kill the young deer. He refused to kill more than he and his family could eat (which meant one animal). And he used as much of the animal as he could. He also didn't use any super-powered weapon, that's stupid too.
