CNN 'McCain Revealed' program paints a VERY ugly picture of McCain, IMO
Edited on Sat Sep-06-08 08:23 PM by krkaufman
I'm watching this 'McCain Revealed' program on CNN, and the guy is coming across as an erratic, seat-of-the-pants, hot-tempered, vindictive a**hole, who's largely advanced through political and monied connections -- from his father and grandfather, to the family of his wealthy second wife. (I can't imagine people walking away from this thing thinking McCain should be President -- especially after 8 years of Chimpy.)

On the vindictive side, one instance is when the 'Arizona Republican' newspaper ran an editorial cartoon associated with Cindy McCain's drug scandal...
The McCains knew the story would get out. They chose to tell what happened to a handpicked group of reporters they thought would be fair. The Arizona Republic wasn't included, and the day after the story broke, the paper ran an ugly editorial cartoon depicting Cindy as a junkie shaking down babies for pills. (link)
... after which McCain ordered his staff to embargo media contact with the paper, which lasted a year. And there's another case where he apparently stopped contact w/ a writer for 12 years.

Sheesh.

p.s. For (gratuitous) reference...

edit: p.p.s. CNN is airing "McCain Revealed" followed by "Obama Revealed" on Saturday September 6 and Sunday September 7, starting at 7 p.m. ET, with replays at 11 p.m. and 3 a.m.

1. I was watching some of it earlier... But will it air on a WEEK DAY?
All these weekend warriors and come Monday, it's back to Gregory and Blitzer drooling all over themselves praising how wonder Parah Stalin read her stump speech on the trail and apologizing for how she canceled her solo appearances. :eyes:

8. CNN air times ...
Edited on Sat Sep-06-08 08:32 PM by krkaufman
CNN is airing "McCain Revealed" followed by "Obama Revealed" on Saturday September 6 and Sunday September 7, starting at 7 p.m. ET, with replays at 11 p.m. and 3 a.m.

Somebody's sure to get it recorded, and maybe posted to Google video or something... or maybe it'll be available on CNN once the initial airings have passed.

p.s. It's trivial, but it's annoying that the CNN web page only lists the start times for the McCain program. And I'm having trouble trying to determine how long each of the programs are. (though I'm thinking 30 minutes)

2. Excellent summary.
I'd like it if they told how he crashed 5 planes by his lousy piloting skills.

That cost U.S. taxpayers $30M in 60's dollars. Not to mention his incompetent low-flying caused his
crash in Vietnam.

He's a gigolo, plain and simple.

4. Yeah, that's a pretty damn big omission.
(highlighting both his lack of preparation, and that his career was preserved because of connections -- but no mention)

7. p.s. A funny post on the Sean Hannity show website ...
Some tool comments on Hannity's site that CNN is being unfair to McCain. By reporting the facts, apparently. (Had CNN omitted these facts, couldn't the report have been considered a whitewash?)
CNN's - McCain Revealed - The Attacks Begin!

CNN is airing a "Special Presentation" of McCain Revealed and to be fair Obama Revealed. The show is not being favorable to McCain. They even showed video footage of McCain's POW experience and the news coverage from CBS, Walter Cronkite. The thing is they decided to stop short of all that was aired many times.

CNN ensured they captured his first wife emphatically saying how she was waiting for John to return home from war and how much she loved him, etc.

They are lambasting McCain about his temper, his wife Cindy and the prescription drug issues; how McCain departed from the Republican Party. Quite simply, it appears more of attacking John McCain.

I wonder if they will do the same "favors" for Obama at 9:30pm. It would seem the attacks are beginning, and I expect them to dramatically increase after the conventions are over.

Maybe if their candidate wasn't such a lazy, erratic wildcard he wouldn't come across as such an idiot, eh?

17. Yup. What's infuriating is how the MSM can't let go of their BS narrative that he's a "maverick"...
When he's voted with Bush 90% of the time during the past eight years.

3. so holding the press hostage and blackmailing them
is nothing new.

report me the way I want you to or you get no access.

good to know.

so much for "maverick" or brining change. we've seen not accountable and not transparent for 8 years.

more ministry of truth bullshit.

if you assholes weren't such lying thieves, you wouldn't have to break even more rules blackmailing the press to do your bidding.

5. Exactly! He's open to the press as long as their articles are favorable...
... but beware the intrepid reporter who dares criticize him.

As you indicate, just look at recent weeks, from his snippy Time interview, to the snubbing of Larry King because of prior CNN coverage, and now the POW's MIA running mate.

Bitter, angry, vindictive.

14. and I question the legality of it, frankly
I'm not attorney, but our democracy relies on a free press. Without it, we can not have democracy. McCain is thwarting the american people's right to know facts they NEED to know in order to cast a vote. usually the press provides those things.

palin and mccain are both denying access in the same way as bush has done for years.

It's clearly cowardly, anti-american, and pisses on the constitution. it is also clearly anti-democracy.

this is not YET a fascist country, yet they act as if it is and no one calls them on it.
I am working my ass off for Obama.

If for some reason he does not end up in the WH, I suggest everyone think very hard about protecting your family, income, etc. Stash some cash away.

Seriously. A Holocaust survivor told me this once and I am just starting to get that our government could really turn on us. You saw what happened in St Paul and still there's no repercussions. Of course there aren't. the DoJ is corrupt. there are no enforces. only the decider.

buckle up, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

GOBAMA for the love of this great country!

    http://www.soapblox.net/belowboston/showDiary.do?diaryId=1749

I found myself liking Obama even more than I already do (if that's possible :>) and becoming even more repulsed by McCain's self-destructive actions (if that's possible).

When just the facts are reported, no innuendo or lies, Obama shines in comparison to the seedy, frat boy McCain.

The reports even mentioned the USS Forrestal disaster and the fact that McCain did indeed write and tape anti-war, anti-American statements for his North Vietnamese captors. They didn't mention that McCain might have caused the Forrestal incident or that his nickname at the Hanoi Hilton was "Songbird," but they did put a slight crack in the mythology of the competent and heroic Naval officer.

Obama's bio, on the other hand, made him look a lot tougher and more of a leader than anything I've seen in the media. His grassroots work in Chicago, his tough, pragmatic political style and his healthy family life made him seem more substantial than any portrayal I've seen in the mainstream media before.

Side by side, without prejudice, it is clear that Obama is better candidate. The key words - without prejudice.

...which, from the little I saw of it, seemed to be a pure hatchet-job more worthy of Faux.

22. Hmmm... I'm starting to view the David Mendel commentary as less than objective...
Edited on Sat Sep-06-08 09:30 PM by krkaufman
... especially when he says Obama hasn't faced many humbling situations in his life. This guy wrote a biography about Obama, and says Obama hasn't been humbled? Did he not cover Obama's entire childhood through college? Sheesh!

edit: p.s. And they're glossing over Obama's US Senate race, ignoring that Obama was destroying Jack Ryan before he dropped out of the race.
