actually, better than I thought, given that it's all post Palin now.

1. So, Obama's convention bounce has him breaking 50%
and McPalin's has them tying them.

I wish it were better, but I guess I'll take a rare moment to look on the bright side.

I'm still worried. People are idiots and the media makes them more so. I'm very worried.

2. worrying does nothing
Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 08:04 AM by Teaser
why worry? Either we lose or we win. The odds are on our side, as are the fundamentals. I can only work with probabilities, and whether I worry or not doesn't change those numbers.

The maximum of the bounce gives you an estimate of the most likely final score of the election. Let that buoy you.

8. I worry, but it drives me to action.
If I get really anxious, I need an outlet. Phone banking or canvassing for my candidate is always soothing. Also, posting waaaay too much on the DU, but sometimes that makes it worse.

14. Obama has broken 50% several times. (Don't listen to Morning Joe & Rethugs re that.)
Check out realclearpolitics.com. On upper right is link to all the national polls in recent months. You'll see what's what when you look at that.

Remember....Obama got 8 pts from convention bounce. So far McCain has zero in some polls, and 1 in some. Need a couple more days, though, for the polls to consist of all days post-Palin speech.

15. Hahaha....Morning Joe...
I'm only laughing because one of my biggest grips that I've posted about on this board is all the people who watch that crap and post about it. I've gotten yelled at (figuratively) on here because I hate that show and don't understand why people watch it.

But you're right I must have been hearing some right wing seepage when I've heard that. Just not from Morning Joe though.

3. So the conventions essentially net them nothing?
In a way this is good I guess because I thought that being up last combined with the lying sack of shizzle from the frozen tundra was going to throw them over the top.

Maybe people are finally calling bullshit on them. The next week will be interesting.

6. People don't know anything about Palin yet.
During the next couple of weeks, everything about her past will come out. Right now, she's still in the "celebrity" phase. I feel confident that she'll be a detriment to McCains' campaign.

11. I agree, there is no way she can fill her expectations...
she will crash and burn with her extremist views.

12. Just as some of us predicted.
Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 08:30 AM by zeemike
And I can go out on the limb and further predict that it will hover around even until the election and we will be waiting with weighted breath for the results on Nov 5 bot knowing who will win this horse race.
Doesn't that all feel familiar? Haven't we been there before?
And when McSame takes office we will be told that Obama just could just not close the deal and he failed to get his message out and the women of America cared more about gender than substance or some such bullshit.
They have got us playing a game that is basically slight of hand.
Watch the numbers because they are scientific, and we will explain them to you. And don't pay attention to that man behind the curtain.

Edited to say I intended this for the OP

13. That's how my dark, suspicious side see it.
Sometimes I think that this election is just being set up to be stolen (again). When the numbers are this close, it's easy to steal an election, as we've seen during the past two.

That being said, my brighter side tells me that it's a new ball game. We'll just have to wait and see.

17. It's Obama's fault if he loses, and quite honestly if he does
he should resign from the Senate and go teach somewhere.

He should be ATTACKING McCain's character and fitness.

But, no, that would be divisive.

4. I don't like the position we are in....
we should be way ahead based on everything that has happened the past 4 years....the media is not going to be our friend and with McPalin lying everyday, I am worried as well. Yesterday Rass had Obama with a 3 point lead and now it is tied. WTF?

16. Obama is running the Dukakis 1988 campaign
with a better GOTV effort.

So, yes, he's blowing it by acting like a wimp.

5. Not bad considering the media is still declaring Palin the next Maggie Thatcher...
and McCain a genius for selecting her. This is mostly fluff and novelty effect. It won't last.
