New GOP Spin: Palin's Not Ready

Todd Harris, a GOP strategist who is close to the McCain campaign, says Palin won't be available to the press for about two weeks. His defense? She might make "a mistake."

"If she goes out and makes a mistake, that is something that care about, and that's something that will haunt for awhile, so I think this is a smart move."

This has got to be one of the craziest messaging decisions ever: Harris is conceding that Palin's not even ready to be a vice presidential candidate, let alone be president.

I just don't see how they can sustain two weeks of keeping Palin in hiding. Every day the McCain campaign keeps her away from reporters just highlights the fact that they don't think she's ready.

1. Not ready to be candidate - not ready to be President.
Nice, short, to the point. This would be a great line to use against her.

2. she is busy attending president camp
where they teach you everything you need to know to be president.

It is two weeks, includes knot-tying (with your tongue), swimming (treading water), hiking (stomping on puppies), and, most importantly, international relations (joining the mile-high club while flying over Canada).

6. She Already Has
been revealed and it's revolting. The MSM just won't pay much attention
(as usual) so we are going to have to keep the pressure on.
She may have rallied that 28-32% "base" but true independents
won't fall for that RW BS.

7. Limit McCain's media access
I realize that equal time must be provided to both Dems and Repukes, but if I were the MSM, I would limit McCain's media access until such time the Palin faced the Press for some indepth interviews.

8. she'll do fluff interviews on Fox and Friends
and women's magazines so the campaign can argue that she's out there doing interviews. There will only be softballs and the campaign will get editorial control.

She won't face any tough questions for some time.

9. Actually, that is why we have to get into the fluff area and make that
tougher for her, which gets into the area of her personal life.
