"babies, guns and Jesus - hot dang!" A real letter to the editor, sadly.
Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 03:37 PM by madfloridian
I thought this letter to the editor was satire at first. I read it again with an open mind. Then I realized this person was dead serious.

And that is indeed very scary. That this person is serious should make us all cry and weep for what our country has become under Rush Limbaugh.

A Regular Mom

I have not been as pumped up since Ronald Reagan was in office as I was this past week with the selection of Sarah Palin as vice presidential nominee. By all accounts, this lady is the real deal.

She sold Alaska's gubernatorial airplane on e-Bay so she can take commercial airline flights and told her kids that they were still going to eat mac 'n' cheese while residing in the governor's mansion in order to save money for her state.

This sounds like a regular mom. What a refreshing change from these narcissistic, arrogant billionaires (on both sides of the aisle) who do not have a clue as to what life is like for us - the great unwashed - who make this country run.

...."This week, when I stand in shock in the grocery aisle reeling from the increasing price of groceries and every basic home item, I will be thinking, "You go, girl."

In the words of Rush Limbaugh regarding Mrs. Palin: "babies, guns and Jesus - hot dang!"

God help us all.

1. We need to make a poster of that.
It is so insane. I mean think about ( that's rhetorical since madfloridian you obviously did). I mean shit. I am rarely at a loss for words or cheap snark, but this just has me speechless.

Talking Head: Governor Palin, what is your stand on (put in anything)
Governor Palin : Babies Guns and Jesus.

2. I really at first thought it was snark.
Even though there are so many dittoheads in our area...I guess I wanted to think it was a joke.

6. Sometimes I think they are all so
crazy they are just going to run off a cliff like a bunch of lemmings. I mean in the past, at least you had evil people ( like Rove and Cheney) in charge of organizing these bozos for their own nefarious ends. Now, though, I think they've all sort of been set loose and are sort of just running around in the streets. I can actually see Cheney sitting back and saying to Rove "Hey Karl, what do you think will happen if we just open the gate and let them out." Maybe they just handed it over to Limbaugh and Dobson and said "Here, you play with them for awhile. We're outta here."

8. LOL..."set loose and running in the streets" It does seem that way.
It really has that feel of being uncoordinated and just striking out at anything that gets in their way.

10. All kidding aside, you are dead right.
There is a sense of deep anger in them. While there has always been anger to a great extent, with the worsening economy, foreclosure and a host of other elements, this is coarser and less focussed and, in some ways, potentially more explosive kind. Hope I am wrong.

3. WTF is this obsession with "regular people"?
First it was the guy you'd want to have a beer with, now babies, guns and jeezus. Don't people want the country to be managed by someone smarter than themselves?

I don't want the president having a fuckin beer with me or anyone else, I don't want him shootin' mooses, I want him thnking about ways to improve the lives of Americans like myself.

And I want him to be smart enough to do it right.

Regular folks, fuck 'em. It's all resentment of people who started with less and made more of themselves.

5. Well at the risk of seeming indelicate, it makes me think of
A mom who takes a big dump first thing every morning. That's the TV definition of 'regular' anyway.

That must be a hell of a talking point to be on the news and in letters to the editors.

14. It was my impression that it was rather mocking, surprisingly so...
though I believe Will has expressed his dismay at the selection of Palin, even though he's conservative Republican.

I didn't listen beyond the intro to the panel discussion. But this line kind of started it off, and the panel laughed.

But don't mind me, I live in South Carolina, so I tend to assume that everyone is as moronic as my neighbors.

28. Well, I remember back in 2003
when a neighbor yelled at us in our own home because we opposed the war....she yelled that Bush was chosen by God to lead us into Iraq.

When I posted it here then, I don't think people actually believed me.

We still have neighbors who think Bush was chosen.

This bunch came out of the woodwork when Bush was elected. I never paid attention before that much.

Yikes.

To cheer you up a bit, though, my darling madfloridian, our own local wingnut rag, the Cincinnati Enquirer, was chock-full of these kinds of letters to the editor in 2006 right before we kicked their asses and took Congress back.
