Inhofe says patriotism question will sink Obama (knowledge is power)

ST. PAUL, Minn. — U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe predicted voters' uncertainty over whether Barack Obama really loves his country will help Republicans win the White House again in November.

A spokeswoman for the Democratic nominee said Obama will not let anyone question his love of his country, adding that Americans have grown tired of cynical partisan politics such as challenging an opponent's patriotism.

Inhofe made his comments at a breakfast for the state party's delegation earlier this week at the Republican National Convention.

"I have no doubt in my mind that we are going to win this election, the presidency and vice presidency," the Oklahoma Republican said.

Inhofe recalled Obama's recent trip overseas.

"He had nothing but positive media all the time, and then he goes into their convention and comes out of the convention without a lead,'' he said.

"That's unheard of."

Regardless of what polls show, Inhofe said, voters will have to ask themselves a question once they get behind the curtain in the voting booth on Election Day.

3. Presidency and Vice Presidency?
Does he think you can win one without the other? Maybe he ought to read the Constitution.

4. Wasn't Obama 6-8 points up in the polls after his speech?
Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 04:08 PM by dansolo
Of course that went down because of the Palin VP announcement and the Republican convention occurring so soon afterwards. The Palin announcement did accomplish the immediate goal of completely wiping out all positive coverage of Obama's speech.

Also write to Mr. Inhofe's senator office:

Write to this newspaper for even printing this tripe!

Dear Mr. Myers,
The "Country Last" ticket in where a 72 year old ailing man selects a Governor who lacks serious qualifications to be a heartbeat away from the presidency because she has a vagina, is whose patriotism I am questioning.

The last refuge of a lying plotting scoundrel is to attack the patriotism of others. That is exactly what I think of Mr. Inhofe. Because that is really all that he did, isn't it, via implication. He himself attacked the patriotism of Barack Obama. Who does Sen. Inhofe think he is to be so bold? If we had a fair media, it is his comments that would be questioned, but instead we just get a reporting of the fact that he said it, which furthers his case by planting the seed, and he knows it, which is why he opened his nasty mouth!

This country is going to hell in a handbacket precisely because of types like Mr. Inhofe, who are at their core nearly traitors to America. It is about as unpatriotic as anything to question the Patriotism of other Americans, and Inhofe infering such a personal cheap shots at someone who would be our President, is, as is Mr. McCain a "Country Last, me First" type of mouthpiece. That is the tragedy in this matter.

Respectfully,

19. Inhofe was simply "planting a seed"
the simple fact he said "uncertainty whether Obama loves his country" will be picked by some of our less than intellectual voters, and those that simply could not bring themselves to vote for a black man even if he was Jesus himself, and they will spread it amongst their "peers" as if it's the gospel truth.

20. With Friends Like This - Jim Inhofe Is The Number One Global Warming Denier
I would just note McCain's associate with both Inhofe and Palin, and ask how can we take McCain's promises to combat global warming and address energy issues seriously when he has Inhofe as a surrogate and chose Sarah Palin as his VP?

21. Inhofe is up for re-election and seems to have a pretty
good Dem opponent named Andrew Rice. I donated to his campaign thru Act Blue here: http://www.actblue.com/entity/fundraisers/18228

It was worth $25 to stick it to Inhofe. I can't vote for Rice, but I can support him in other ways. Hah. Take that asshole.
