Statement on Stop Dean Movement |
|
My involvement in the Stop Dean Movement has earned me a ton of criticism and other disturbing "attention." My friend and I are currently resigning from the movement in order to devote our attention to support our candidate. While I still believe a Dean candidacy will be bad for our party and thus our country, I do not believe a purely negative campaign against Howard Dean will do anyone a service. I was wrong, and I admit that. The candidate I support, who I am working for in New Hampshire currently, is not going negative. He is running on his record, not on how bad any of the other candidates are. I wish the best of luck to everyone in the party and to their respective candidates. I understand the hatred I received for my involvement in the movement will not soon be erased, but I hope that when a nominee is chosen, we will all rally behind that candidate. I know I will. I hope that we will put the primary bickering aside and do what is best for our party and country.
Godspeed, RAGE

2. So eating other Democrats gives you a funny taste in your mouth? |

While I think your efforts were, well, stupid, I hope you weren't threatened or anything horrible like that. I wish the best for you and your candidate. At the end of the day, we're still on the same side.

As giddily disturbing as Dean is to the system, we would lose big by the system without his example. He seems in fact to be plowing through hostile waters with gusto and charm. They are and will continue to be hostile waters though. He is not calming the seas or walking on them, just plain tough work.
You are right. Don't stop a candidate. Get your own going and see who floats. That is why Dean has a good head start. He has done what all need to do to win.
And he is not my first preference either, but I am very open to the possibility that I am wrong because I see mainly strengths in some of these areas of worry.

4. You Larouchies can't fool us. |

We are on to you.
That's good news. The best way to stop Dean is to give people an alternative.

If you still think Dean is bad for the country, you've just done the single most damagin thing any single person can do, vow to support your guy. Make it about your guy. Don't even bring Dean up. I don't know if I should be happy or sad. Happy for you, sad for my guy.

8. Quite possibly the most... |

DISINGENUOUS half ass apology I've ever read. "I'm sorry BUT... Howard Dean really is a bad candidate" just doesn't cut it. If you're going to apologise, don't cheapen it with a codicil. Many people don't know the whole story behind this so called apology, and I'm certainly not going into it here, that is up to those directly involved to handle with whatever actions they deem best.
I suspect you might be rather young and this might be your first foray into national politics, my advice to you is to take the high road in your future endeavors, it will serve you and your candidate in better stead instead of cheapening and dragging everyone down in the mud with you.

12. That sounds like a very wise decision. |
|
Your time might be better spent spreading the word about the positive attributes of your candidate.
