In defense of David Gregory and to address DUers attacking him as a GOP hack. . . |
|
It goes to show folks have a short memory. From a commentary analysis viewpoint I prefer Keith Olbermann, but for folks to attack David Gregory as a GOP hack is ridiculous. Do you think George Bush, Scott McClellan and the late Tony Snow think he is a partisan hack? Watch these videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sedc1hks-xEhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czx8NzTKWEchttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WeEyJqPREchttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viqZ1ouZaDUI love DU but it seems some of our brothers and sister will have knee jerk reactions to anything and everything that does not go our way. As a I said last night in the thread below, GET A GRIP: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x6980666

|
He doesn't even try to hide it, and no, I'm not wasting my time watching youtubes of him.

significant difference between being a reporter and a host of a program. I haven't seen any DUers attacking Gregory for his past role as a reporter. Those who question Gregory are doing so because of his republican lap dog approach to hosting on MSNBC.

9. That's a fact, Jack. Gregory mutated into a republicon propagandist |
|
And has been sliding downhill with his colleagues in the corporate media, collectively dragging the stinking remains of what used to be journalism in the public interest into bent-knee servitude to the republicon-corporate machine.
Ptooey.

13. Sorry, I said it at the time ... |
|
Dude broke loose three or four times and the OP while in the WH Press Corps - sorry, that didn't impress me at the time in the least.
He is a smirky A water carrier - his pet nickname is "Stretch" by the Disaster in Chief, his dancing with Rove on that stage ALONE should have permanently banished him to covering PTA meetings.
He is as much a journalist as Pig Russert was - they acted the part in that superficial way that allowed the other media whores to point to them as the example of unbiased journalism. But, the Rs know they are their bwitches.

The people who call the shots just cast about, looking for the one who will jump the highest when asked "who wants to lob softballs at Repubs and castigate Democrats?" The ones with personal convictions (Olbermann) will sit and think about the question for a while, during which media whores like Gregory jump up and down yelling "me, me, me, pick me!" There doesn't have to be any overt partisan selection of newscasters, just a nod and a wink to those who do their masters' bidding.

7. Oh please, he is a STUPID, GOP HACK. They like to hire people |
|
who aren't the sharpest tools in the shed and who are willing to do anything for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and fame.
The guy is a disgrace to the journalistic professional and does not have an ounce of journalistic integrity.
Media hacks are destroying this country.

decent-journalist Stretch has been MIA for awhile now, replaced with David Gregory, corporate stooge.

|
and we're supposed to believe he's just a non-partisan "just the facts" reporter? Yeah, right...

14. A lot of people here have very short memories |
|
it's his job to ask questions, tough questions, of both sides. That's what I want in a reporter. I'll admit that I don't watch his new show on MSNBC but this guy was great at giving it to the Bushies when he was WH correspondent. Have we forgotten that so quickly?

15. the problem is, he no longer asks the tough questions of both sides. |
|

If you ever see him question a McCain advisor or surrogate, and then question an Obama advisor or surrogate, the contrast is crystal clear, and that's aside from the commentary that he adds when he is supposed to be a moderator to his show...he's not just playing devil's advocate, he rebukes any Obama positive talking point or perception projected by the Democrat on RFTWH, and nods his head and affirms every McCain positive talking point or perception on RFTWH. If he begins to ask tough questions of both sides again, then I will give him credit.
