10. If you've seen any of his stump speeches, it's just a condensed version |
|
He joked about the "lipstick" thing a bit, made a funny about him being on the covers of Time and Newsweek (basically saying he too was once the new kid on the block).

12. Thanks! I can't wait to see the YouTube vids! |
|
Even though I've seen his stump speeches, I like watching him in casual settings. After 8 years of seeing a POTUS who can't even conduct himself in an appropriate matter in any occasion (John McCain is VERY much like Bush in this regard too), I like watching someone who can be both Presidential and intimate-- a la FDR and his fireside chats.

14. At a break now. He did some stumping. Letterman asked him if he'd |
|
ever put lipstick on a pig. Said he hadn't but it would be fun. Made a comment about how he didn't know what they put lipstick on there in NYC.
Letterman asked what he thought of Palin when she was announced. Went into stump mode and said he'd get a better idea when she talked to people. Said it almost as a throw-away line, but the audience chuckled anyway.

... still, I can't help but wish he'd use this time to get in a few real jabs. Not just "why you should vote for me" but why McCain isn't fit for the office, why he'll ruin the country, why he's more sidekick than maverick. Tell the country that you want to lower their taxes, not raise them. You've got a huge audience right now, Barack! Get your digs in!
I know, though, that that's just not the kind of campaign he's running.

26. Barack and Joe Biden should get permission to use the tune |
|
"Bully, bully" to play in the background of advertisements they make against McCain/Palin. She likes to promote herself as a barracuda (and we know the story about the use of that song). Using Bully, Bully would be a great parody on that incident without having to say a word ... And obviously, that term is so fitting for both of them.
Well, maybe I should check out the words to the actual tune before I suggest that ...

He really is. Sometimes when I saw the crowds he drew, like in Germany, I found it hard to understand myself. He's so charismatic and while perhaps some dems have gotten into a bit of a tizzy over the nightmare that Palin represents, he's so cool and doesn't get ruffled.
What's kind of sad is I'm hearing more issues discussed on Letterman of all places! than on any of the news programs who are too wrapped up in pig-gate and spend an hour covering Palin's latest lipstick rather than how Cheney-bush has run up the highest freaking deficit in history.
