Not bad; at least she wasn't offering rewards for their pelts.

So What Did Palin Request in Federal Earmarks? Seal DNA Research!
By Kate Klonick - September 10, 2008, 8:34PM

As we've mentioned elsewhere on TPM, Sarah Palin was not quite as conservative as she claims in her requests for earmarks. And here's a great example from just this year.

According to Alaska's 2009 catalog of earmark requests the state's sea life are in great need of federal money. As Politico points out, Palin's office requested $2 million in federal monies to study crab mating habits; $494,900 for the recreational halibut harvest and $3.2 million for seal genetics research.

Those requests for the study of wildlife genetics and mating habits seems pretty antithetical to the long-standig views of Palin's running mate, John McCain.

"We're not going to spend $3 million of your tax dollars to study the DNA of bears in Montana," McCain said earlier this year, referring to a request from Montana for federal money to study the endangered grizzly bear. "I don't know if it was a paternity issue or criminal, but it was a waste of money."

1. McCain used Palins earmarks from 2002 to highlight his pork barrel narative in 2002
So he was against Palin before he was for her :)

6. No shit. I found out yesterday
that my ex-sister in law's brother is cured of cancer he's been combatting for 7 years because of a healthy dose of stem cells. Why can't we all have the ability to use this?

11. K & R and by the way, stay safe Babylonsister, we thought we were going
to get the brunt but we could have handled it much better than Houston....my daughter just moved from there two months ago, thankfully she bought a house here instead of there though she fought us all on moving back, be careful....

14. Thanks, AuntPatsy.
We were in the midst of replacing our windows; the contractors cancelled. They're taking this seriously, too. I guess we're hunkering down here unless I can scare my DH into leaving.

16. Though it looks like we will be in the clear down here I was still able

to get someone last minute to haul off alot of junk out of our yard and our garage that we just no longer wanted, you know what many people are having to deal with, many people get paid from Houston all throughout Texas and they have been told that they will have to wait until next week, there are so many that will be affected in different ways when this storm hits, its more than sad, its probable best that they wait until after the storm...

Seriously though, take care, my daughter lived up there so I am well aware of the dangers you are facing, it was one of the reasons we strongly pushed her to buy a house down here and live here instead of Houston, they were going to buy a house in La Porte, even though last year when they had all that rain her rental house had been flooded..I seriously the eye hits in an area that is far less populated....I don't wish it to hurt others but Houston is just not a good place for this monster to make landfall..

I just heard that it has yet to take that jog north so perhaps you guys might be spared the brunt, if it does not jog north in the next seven hours that the galveston hit they are predecting won't occur..

Hang in there...
