Obama promises tougher campaign
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2008/09/11/obama_promises_tougher_campaign.html

"According to the Washington Post, Obama aides "hinted that they would save their toughest counterpunch until after Sept. 11."

About time, no mercy for McBush & Miss Mooseburger...

1. People I talk with on the phone every day want him to get real tough
We're all waiting for that to happen. I'm looking forward to it.

3. All he needs to do to get tough is to cut to the chase and tell the TRUTH.
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 09:38 AM by Skwmom
Why has that become so hard to do in American politics?

He should use Webb as a surrogate because Webb KNOWS how to fight and the Irish, who live in Appalachia, respect that.

4. Promises, promises...I'll believe it when I see it
so far, IMO the entire campaign has been way too soft, resorting to playing defense the majority of the time. The Kerry strategy is not going to work.

5. Democrats are always waiting until later to attack
Republicans never wait for a chance to punch our candidates.

Obama had better be ready for a real fight because Republicans are only going to get more dirty as the election gets closer.

We can't win while on defense.

7. Its all about pacing, I know Obama likes Ali, but he fights like Foreman
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 09:47 AM by Boz
Foreman would stand there and get hit again and again and line up his punch, his opponent would continue to hit him with jabs and quick takes, Foreman would take a couple of shots that would miss or graze taking what looked like a beating from his opponents and then came the ONE.

The one they called the Widow Maker, the punch he was waiting for, the one that his opponents ancestors would feel.

For George it was often two hits, Him hitting the Opponent and the Opponent hitting the floor.

I have seen Obama do it in Chicago when I lived there while he was running for the senate, I have seen him do it to opponents in the senate since then, I have seen him to do it to several opponents during the primaries and even contenders in the republican primary targets.

He and George Foreman fight in very similar ways, find your opponent, measure your opponent, shoot tracers, AND THEN FIRE FOR EFFECT, it is devastating when you can take the small damage and unleash a fuller firmer force than your opponent can ever hope to do with potshots.

Hes the guy still standing after 19 months. Here comes the Widow Maker.

11. Here's what it's all about.. Republicans don't mind fighting dirty.
Ask McCain about SC 2000..........the Republican establishment attacked his kid for God's sake, and to his credit at the time he was rightfully outraged.

8 years later, he understands that to win elections you don't put up barriers, and he's hired the very same people who attacked his family; in other words, he's figured out that you just can't worry about being perceived as mean or dirty.

The election's the thing, and this one's too important to lose. Get mean, get tough, call out McCain.

12. Obama did beat Alan Keyes for the Senate - that had to be dirty.
Keyes is like Rush Limbaugh, so I'm thinking O. must be up to it. Mostly, if he can stay blue collar about it, and not forget and become too "teachy", I'd expect him to be pretty good at inflicting damage to McC/P. At least there's no end of material to use against them.

I do hope neither Obama nor Biden will do any more praising the enemy at all after this.

13. Alan Keyes?
You can't compare beating Keyes to beating McCain/Palin. McCain/Palin is the entire Bush family machine.

14. So Did Kerry
I distinctly remember him saying his campaign was going to "take the gloves off" after his supporters were angry that he was just sitting back. It's not good if you need to announce that you're getting tougher.
