If you were asked to be VP... would you consider no? Would you blink? |
|
Charlie Gibson interview
GIBSON: And you didn't say to yourself, "Am I experienced enough? Am I ready? Do I know enough about international affairs? Do I -- will I feel comfortable enough on the national stage to do this?"
PALIN: I didn't hesitate, no.
GIBSON: Didn't that take some hubris?
PALIN: I -- I answered him yes because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink, you have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on, reform of this country and victory in the war, you can't blink.
So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate.
Ok seriously - its that kind of knee jerk, rash decision making that has made the Bush years so delightful.
You have family and a country to think of - sure its flattering to be picked - hell if Obama called and asked me, my first thought would be HELL YEAH (sorry Biden). But then I would stop and think - what crap will be dragged out, what will this put my family through, am I the best person for the job and then make a decision. Its that thinking step that the republicans keep forgetting to take.

1. Good judgment is knowing when you're not qualified. |
|
Think about it. Good, sound judgement and sane reasoning would tell most of us that, as flattering as the offer may be, we know, in our heart of hearts that we could not do the job. That, my friends, is what separates those of us in the real world from Sarah Palin and that, in my mind is what make her so dangerous.

8. Good judgement is why I have never run for president. That, and the |
|
little matter of those nude pics my freshman year of college.
Oh, and the fact that I really don't have any knack at all for economics, or diplomacy, or military strategy.............
But I am WAAAYYYYY smarter than THAT WOMAN.

4. Sarah, some people wouldn't blink before they said; "gimme a moment and let me |
|
call the husband and kid, okay?"
What a DOLT. And a sanctimonious dolt at that.

5. Blink? Not only would I blink, I'd laugh my ass off |
|
and ask the presidential nominee whether he/she had taken leave of his/her senses. That's because I'm not qualified to be Vice President, and I'm especially not qualified to take over if the President became incapacitated. Although I've lived for decades in a state that borders on a foreign country, I don't have any real foreign policy experience. Although I've worked in state government and I've had management duties in various capacities, including running my own business, I don't feel at all qualified for to manage from the top any of the complexities of the federal government. And although I went to just one college and finished in four years, and have an advanced degree in a government-related field, I do not feel educated or knowledgeable enough to jump right into a position of such great responsibility. So no, I'd turn down the offer. And then I wouldn't ever vote for the person who made the offer because I'd just seen irrefutable proof that they were batshit crazy for asking me.

|
When thousands of lives are on the line, you better blink, and you better f*cking THINK before you make the situation WORSE. This woman would be WORSE than Bush!

I just had a picture in my mind of McFailin as a pair of Weeping Angels (Doctor Who reference). And the thing is, they fit the bill. Only they want to take my whole country back to the stone age. Great, now I'll never sleep again... :yoiks:
