Sun Times' Lynn Sweet calls Palin "steely and supremely self confident" in ABC interview
doesn't Tweety have her on all the time?

The woman is clearly batshit insane.

I would like some of whatever hallucinogenic she's on.

Sarah Palin passes her test with ABC's Charles Gibson.

By Lynn Sweet on September 11, 2008 7:56 PM

WASHINGTON-- Sarah Palin showed herself as steely and supremely confident--even when she stumbled over a question about the Bush Doctrine --and brushed off whether it mattered that she had never met a foreign head of state in her much anticipated first network interview as John McCain's running mate.

ABC anchor Charles Gibson--who had something to prove as an interviewer after a controversial turn as a debate moderator--at times seemed exasperated at Palin's rehearsed patter in the segments of the interview shown on the evening newscast.

Gibson, in the first of two days with Palin in Alaska pressed and probed in an interview where he was under as much pressure as his subject. In their own way, they both did well. Palin kept calling him "Charlie."

Palin, 44, the Alaska governor, kept herself out of major trouble, and that was her most important goal, first do no harm. She sounded reasonable--that is she is not calling for some kind of holy wars in explaining the statement she made in her church about war and God's plan. "I believe that there is a plan for this world and that plan for this world is for good."

5. Also a very familiar one.
Chick Cheney, indeed.

That's giving her too much credit, in fact.

12. Exactly -- I read the "I didn't blink" remarks and thought the same.
Sometimes it's better to stop and blink, and think.

7. Lynne Sweet
is a totally wishy washy reporter for the Chicago Sun Times which is little more than a glorified National Enquirer. She needs for this election to be close and if Palin tanks in these interviews with Gibson the election is over and she knows it.

8. She seemed confident to me
That's what I posted in the other thread, that she never allowed herself to be on the defensive.

I like Frenchie Cat's suggestion, one Palin thread per day. That's all she's worth. We're wasting time expecting her to crumble.

When I'm sitting in Nevada sportsbook these days listening to chatter from nearby tourists, the only political talk has Sarah Palin as the subject. And it's hardly negative.

I'll be surprised if Palin isn't sent to Texas next week to sympathize with hurricane victims. I realize she's in Alaska right now, but that seems like a wonderfully cynical GOP tactic.

10. "stumbled" ???
Oh Lynn honey, that was NOT a "stumble".
That was a "trip on the curb, smack your face on the sidewalk, roll back into the street, get run over by a garbage truck, and have buzzards pick at whats left of your entrails" kind of thing.
No sweetie, that was not a "stumble".

11. There's more of us than it is of the Reich
After this election, we need to engage in a browbeating of the media that would make the Republicans blush.

They buy up every outlet and still cry "liburuhah media" constantly.

13. In another column about lipstick gate, she thinks McCain was right.
"What Obama knew or should have known was that Palin has appropriated as a signature expression the word "lipstick." In her keynote speech at the GOP convention, Palin asked what the difference was between a hockey mom and a pit bull. "Lipstick," she said."

How can you appropriate something in one week? The expression has been around forever. And also, like Obama said on Letterman, if you follow the logical conclusion, Palin would have been the lipstick. Republicans are now PC and uberfeminist to boot? Strains credibility. Back to school, Ms. Sweet.

14. "Rehearsed patter."
patter:
noun: plausible glib talk (especially useful to a salesperson)
http://onelook.com/?w=patter&ls=a

glib:
adjective: having only superficial plausibility
adjective: marked by lack of intellectual depth
http://onelook.com/?w=glib&ls=a

"Rehearsed patter" was a dig at Palin, the little gem in the otherwise steamin' heap of you-know-what.
