The wingnuts are crowing about this story: Democrats on Capitol Hill fear Obama fallout
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 10:01 PM by CatWoman
now, don't shoot the messenger: I have to admit that I don't know where this shit came from. somebody debunk this. somebody hold me and tell me it's gonna be all right

Democratic jitters about the US presidential race have spread to Capitol Hill, where some members of Congress are worried that Barack Obama’s faltering campaign could hurt their chances of re-election.

Party leaders have been hoping to strengthen Democratic control of the House and Senate in November, but John McCain’s jump in the polls has stoked fears of a Republican resurgence.

A Democratic fundraiser for Congressional candidates said some planned to distance themselves from Mr Obama and not attack Mr McCain.

“If people are voting for McCain it could help Republicans all the way down the ticket, even in a year when the Democrats should be sweeping all before us,” said the fundraiser, a former Hillary Clinton supporter.

“There is a growing sense of doom among Democrats I have spoken to . . . People are going crazy, telling the campaign ‘you’ve got to do something’.”

2. Dumb cometh before the Fall
I hope they're supremely confident on the night of November 4. It will make the Obama victory that much sweeter to see their looks of shocked confusion.

8. McCain's "jump in the polls" is already mostly gone. It was a brief
jump after the convention, and then everyone came back to their senses again.

None of the Dems in Congress are worried about their futures...except for Lieberman...but the Republican's are. They know things are not boding well for them: the economy is crap, unemployment is up, gas is expensive (still), food is expensive (still), GOP corruption headlines, a huge deficit, etc.

The Republicans are the ones who are worried, not the Dems.

10. I'm confident that Democrats will gain net seats in both the House and the Senate.

I don't know who will win the White House.

However, regarding the US Senate, there are no seats currently held by Democrats where Republicans are leading in the polls, and multiple seats currently held by Republicans where Democrats are leading in the polls.

12. I'm really not buying it
A few days of convention bounce isn't going to freak anyone out, because it always disappears. Whoever wrote this is trying to give Republicans a boost.

13. i don't believe it, why, because all the gloom and doom is coming mostly from
one person, "A former Hillary supporter and democratic fundraiser".

FT, you need to do better than that, shame on you.

14. Grow a fucking spine Democrats in Congress. It's just more weak
kneed Democrats who wince and cower at the first sign of bad news even if this "bad news" is temporary. Good God! No wonder Bush rode roughshod over them for the past 8 years.....

15. What faltering campaign?
Is this a repuke trick where they just keep repeating stuff over and over, convincing themselves it is true? One question I haven't seen asked in the hysteria that is DU is where is McSame's mega-bounce? He only went up a couple of points after the convention and after naming Superwoman Sarah as his VP. She's so awesome, you would think the poll numbers would reflect that, wouldn't you?

But no. McSame only went up a couple of points and now the race is evening out again (although I don't believe this, I think Obama is way ahead), where is all the handwringing on the McSame side? He has Superwoman! He should be kicking our ass! But he isn't.

was back on it's heels.

WTF?

We have 7 weeks to go and 7 more weeks for Palin to implode.

21. Oh, please. Mavrick/Moran got a convention bump that is already fading,
the media called them out on their idiotic "lipstick on a pig" distraction ploy, and tonight, Palin CRASHED and BURNED spectacularly in her interview. So what -- Obama had a rough couple of weeks -- things are going to get MUCH rougher for Grampa and his nursemaid.

(I'm not shooting the messanger. :hi: )
