I Find Media Stories Praising Palin's "Femininity" Offensive. Slam On Other Female Politicians? |
|
Can you imagine a whole series of stories and commentaries noting or praising the fact that Obama or McCain are masculine? Is there maleness in doubt? Conversely, are they any more "male" than other male politicians?
Yet, in a large number of stories and commentaries, particularly by conservative commentators, I see Sarah Palin being praised because she of her femininity or because she has managed to retain her femininity despite being governor of the State of Alaska. Am I missing something? What does that mean? Does that suggest that other female politicians have abandoned their femininity through their pursuit of public office? Or, are they referring to sex appeal?
Check it our yourself, and google news with femininity and Palin, and you will find a bunch of stories that do not simply note that she is a female candidate, but that she is a "feminine" female candidate. Go figure.

1. besides that, I don't find her all that "feminine" |
|
if by feminine we mean for women's rights.
anyone who makes rape victims pay for their own rape kits is NOT a woman I want to have anything to do with.

2. They can't talk about her brains, or diplomatic skills or..... |

so they're falling back on sexuality. There seems to be a certain # of people out there totally enamored of her "prettiness." Apparently that makes up for her bloodthirstyness.

6. Exactly, Run A Google Search On Stories of Hillary and Femininity |
|
And you don't get nearly the same number of stories that you get of stories celebrating how feminine Palin is. Hillary is a woman, married, and she has a daughter. What is it about Palin that makes right wing commentators celebrate and comment upon her femininity? It reminds me of tennis when folks tried to justify the attention paid to Anna Kournikova over much more accomplished women tennis players.
