Gergen: "Today was a major turning point in the campaign" |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 09:28 PM by scheming daemons
Paraphrasing:
"McCain's momentum is likely to fade. This is an opportunity for Obama to grab the momentum."
"Today has pulled this campaign back to the 'issues'... which is where Obama wants it."

And by the end of the week, Gergen will be talking about how Obama had his opportunity and couldn't close the deal.

4. And Gergen and the rest will talk about 'personality'. Like any of them would recognize that. |

2. And Obama and Biden both hammered home on the issues today, along with some |
|
bitch slapping about McCain's campaign tactics.

3. I agree. This is a HUGE turning point for Obama/Biden to own the economy |

and throw McClown and Co under the bus where he deserves.

5. I like Gerghen. I think he is correct. Up to Obama to show some emotion now. |

And fight for his country.

8. Oh please...If you saw Obama in video clips today or any time you |
|
wouldn't be writing inanities like "It's up to Obama to show some emotion now and fight for his country".

14. She Can't Spell Gergen's Name Correctly & She Has Some Trouble Staying On The Page |
|
As if Obama doesn't show emotion. Staying on the page of reality is difficult for her. Strikes me as odd. That. I took her off ignore a few months ago now I am wondering why.

22. Sorry if I offend you. I simply like Obama most when he gets really emotional. |
|
Like when he said "enough" during the big speech in denver. Everyone is giving Obama unsolicited advice on this forum. I thought I was one of them. Didn't know I would stand out.

23. No I didn't see the speeches today. I look forward to seeing them tomorrow. |
|
I've been calling for Obama to show more emotion for a week now. He was so great in denver. It is hard for me to see him on the TV cause I have to go to my parents to watch CNN. I don't have cable right now. I'm glad he was emotional today. He has every right to be.

and stop the media inclination to reduce this to a campaign about trivialities.

9. Gergen was also asked, "Did the McCain campaign go to far with their lies" "Yes" |
|
He is clear and effective and the McCain campaign had to cringe when he said it.

13. I Agree with Gergen On This |
|
If the markets continue to tank this week, and I think that they will, Obama's chances will be boosted. There's no way that people are going to trust an old man who's stuck with the old ways of Bush and his "won't talk to the media" VP candidate when the economy is collapsing before our eyes.
The party is power benefits when the economy is strong, and it loses when the economy is weak.

18. Well Gergen is good at climbing on the bandwagon when he sees how the wind is blowing. |
|
Just as he did in 1992 during the Town Hall Debate in Richmond when anyone with a brain could see that Poppy Bush was going down (this was when the infamous "watch looking incident" occured).

Our economy is fundamentally sound. Americans won't pick lettuce for $100,000 a year. If you are making under 4 million you are middle class.
MC CAIN IS A DISASTER ON THE ECONOMY AND DEMOCRATS NEED TO RAMP UP THIS DEBATE.
