I think a lot of Republicans won't admit they're voting for Obama
Edited on Tue Sep-16-08 03:33 PM by PlanetBev
This is a crowd that's used to moving in lock-step, so it must be hard for them to admit it. I'm sure running into them, left and right. One of my co-workers told me that he's a registered Republican and ashamed of it, all excited about Obama. Another Repbulican told me that she will not vote for McCain, because of Palin. She said it proves he has no judgement.

1. I think you are right.
I have seen some on the right admit they will not vote for McCain, for various reasons, but Palin "has" caused many to decide not to vote, which really surprised me. Others I am sure will vote for Obama, but will never admit to it. Their "friends" would disown them if they did!

2. I'm wondering if you are not absolutely correct. Even David Brooks
article today was about Palin not being qualified, etc. etc. And I run into people all of the time who say they are very unhappy with the way the Bush administration is handling things.

4. For some odd reason, people lie to pollsters all

6. True. While the MSM is all over the Bradley Effect *against* Obama
I think there's a very real segment of the population who will do the opposite. Their wallets don't lie.

7. Something I forgot to add
Two of my other co-workers are Independents, both women. They come into my office frequently to tell me how much they can't stand Palin and are voting Obama.

8. I think the battlelines might drawn on the Bradley effect
If you are afraid of or hate Black people, your vote is pretty much calcified already.

10. Mebbe Yes, Mebbe No
It's hard to say just how many registered Republicans are going to vote for Barrack Obama this November. I'd say that Obama is probably going to attract a lot of those Republicans who still think for themselves and who don't feel happy with where the likes of Dubya, Gramm, DeLay, Gingrich, et al have taken what was once their party.

On the other hand, I think that Palin's nomination wasn't good news for us Democrats. I think that she does appeal not only to the hard-right evangelicals, but those social conservatives who want to see Palin as one of them, whether she'd vote for their interests or not.

In any event, the OP is right. People DO lie to pollsters, when they don't give them short shrift like I do.

We can do our best, but we'll have to see.

11. They are not voting for this party GET OFF THAT CRACK ALREADY!!!!!
This party gets delusional with this stuff sometimes.

Why are people so hung up on getting Republicans to vote Democrat? That's not going to happen under any circumstances. Conservatives HAVE THEIR PARTY!!!

They are not voting and will never vote for a Democrat. The crossover voter MIGHT.
