Lookie Lookie what states is now a Democrat pickup for Senate

ALASKA!!!!

:woohoo:

What else is good news - we are competitive in Mississippi, Georgia, Minnesota and North Carolina.

And without a doubt we are winning New Mexico, Colorado, New Hampshire and Virginia

HOWEVER, unless we can get Oregon, Idaho, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina or Maine competitive we will not have a filibuster proof senate.

Currently we are

49 Democrats
49 Republicans
1 Independant that aligns Democrat (Sanders)
1 Asshole who is a self serving prick with his head shoved up his ass that will no longer align Dem in 2008 (Lieberman).

So if we win the 4 states with a definate lead (NH, VA, NM, CO) and pick up all the competitive states (AK, MN, MS, GA, NC) we have 9 seats which would put us at 59 Senate seats since I highly doubt Lieberman would stay aligned with the democrat party and if he begged us I think Harry Reid is ready to toss him out anyways. And if some miracle that we get all 9 seats AND he wants to align with the dems, he wouldn't be a help with a veto anyways.

4. "... a self serving prick with his head shoved up his ass ... "
Just one small difference of opinion. Lieberman has his head shoved up McCain's ass.

5. They'll let Lieberman keep his post only if he votes with Dems on procedural issues
cloture, etc. that's the deal i think they will offer him and it might be worth it.

10. The way Reid is talking, the days of Lieberman/Democrat bonding is very much overwith
The only reason we played ball was so we could have the majority. As of 2009 we won't need him for majority anymore and there are other hardworking senators who deserve committee chair positions over Lieberman. You have Carper, Pryor and Landrieu both in that committee and both have been longterm members of senate without committee assignments (Levin and Akaka both have their own committees). And if for some really bizarro reason Obama doesn't win - he's also a committee member - I would would give the committee chair to him.

6. The latest poll in Oregon has Merkeley up by 2 against Gordon Smith, and
Smith's new "Willie Horton" type ad has the state in an uproar. Oregon is definitely a competitive state right now.

9. Not incredible at all
NC elected John Edwards and always has a Democratic governor and usually legislature. Besides, Dole has been a big, fat nothing since she rode her party's coattails into her seat and NC's economy (outside Raleigh and Charlotte) has been hurting really bad for years. The eastern part of the state might be conservative farmers, but Wilmington is a large, Democratic town, and southeast is Lumbee Indians and they swing a lot of influence. Plus, even a marginal change of heart among military personnel would enhance a Democrat's chances (big-time military state). Central NC is a collection of college towns, like Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Durham (all having sizable black populations as well). Raleigh is a very political city, with thousands of northern transplants who lean liberal. Western NC also has a bunch of college towns, including Asheville and Boone, along with a centrist city, Charlotte, that tends to vote Democratic in national elections and currently has a super-putz Republican (Pat McCrory) as do-nothing mayor. So, I could easily see Dole losing her seat, if only because even NC Republicans are tired of losing ground economically.

Historically, NC has been one of the most aberrant of southern states. Whigs, abolitionists, Unionists, Populists, and progressives have tended to hang on longer there than most any upper South state. It's the anti-SC, most of the time.

8. Kentucky and Oregon
KY could be competitive, I think. We elected a Dem. for Governor, and Mitch McConnell, well, we all know what a scuzz bag he is. Bruce Lunsford is making a run at him, and I think that with enough financial support and a push for strong Democratic turnout could put him over the top. Lunsford is running ads here that show McConnel with George Bush and they're doing their best to tie him to big oil as well. Not a very hard thing to do, actually. Also, from looking at this map http://www.newsmeat.com/> that someone was kind enough to post this a.m., KY is one of the darker "baby blue" states.

Gordon Smith out in Oregon is doing his best to save his skin by running ad after ad that aligns him with Barack Obama, but I think his tenure may be over.

11. Don't count on us.
Sorry, but for some reason that slime ball Roberts is still doing well. The slime machine is running hard here and the ads are nasty. I don't know what reasons there are other than knee jerk (he has not hurt us yet, we are fine, keep things the same) and uninformed voters who vote Republican because they always have and their Daddy always did and their pastor is a Republican.

I would love to get rid of Roberts but it is going to take Slattery getting out earlier and raising some serious money early to even stand a chance to unseat Roberts.

I would be a little more encouraged if Slattery could have broken 40% at some point but so far, as far as I know, he has not. Lets hope there is a last minute burst of info sent far and wide into the Kansas countryside.
