Adam Nagourney- the NY Times' chief political correspondent
Edited on Fri Sep-19-08 01:04 AM by depakid
It's gotten so I won't read any story the man writes- today's piece was more editorializing on the front page with a laughable fluff bit about McCain. I've asked several people I trust to review the guy's writing to see whether my thoughts about his schict are correct- namely that he colors his copy disparagingly about Democrats in a very transparent way.

They agreed- which led me to get curious look up a few pictures of the guy:

Wow. Sometimes pictures really do say a thousand words.

6. He looks as creepy as his copy
Kinda make you wonder why the Times keeps him around.

It's not doing anything for their credibility- and probably not for their subscriber base.

10. I sent several stories out
To an Aussie Journo, to an LA author and a Britsh friend with a PhD in molecular genetics. Something of a diverse set of folks- who've been known to smack me down from time to time. LOL.

Basically, I asked them what their thoughts were and whether the writing was obviously slanted.

The Aussie had worst to say (he'd probably be sacked from a suburban)- but essentially the consensus was- WTF is wrong with this guy?

And, why does the NY Times have him on board?

3. He was a shithead during the 2000 and 2004 elections as well.

There were lots of negative posts about his articles...well-founded criticism.

Obama Campaign Criticizes New York Times Story On Poll
<snip>
The Obama campaign sent over a detailed critique of the story, which concludes from the poll that Obama isn't closing the divide on race. The story's lead reporter was the paper's top political writer, Adam Nagourney.<snip>

New York Times political reporter Adam Nagourney is typically hyper-sensitive to any hint
of a Republican "attack" on a Democrat (not so much the other way around).

13. newsbusters.org is arguing there that Nagourney generally shows 'liberal bias'.
From their "About" page: "Welcome to NewsBusters, a project of the Media Research Center (MRC), the leader in documenting, exposing and neutralizing liberal media bias."

From MRC's (badly written) About page: "The mission of the Media Research Center is to bring balance to the news media. Leaders of America's conservative movement have long believed that within the national news media a strident liberal bias existed that influenced the public's understanding of critical issues. On October 1, 1987, a group of young determined conservatives set out to not only prove — through sound scientific research — that liberal bias in the media does exist and undermines traditional American values, but also to neutralize its impact on the American political scene. What they launched that fall is the now acclaimed — Media Research Center (MRC).

Kind of strange sources to be quoting, no?
