Wanna see a great example of journalistic bullshit from CNN?
First----this was the headline on CNN's front page:

OK--- here's the hot water and see if you can catch the big lie?

CNN) — Joe Biden's off-the-cuff remarks on the trail have at times taken the Obama campaign off-message, but the Delaware senator's latest riff just may have landed him in hot water with voters — and die hard football fans — in a key battleground state.

Speaking to members of the University of Delaware football team Friday morning, the Democratic VP candidate said he thinks the Fightin Blue Hens (1-1 this season) could thrash a certain team from Ohio.

"I was out in Ohio," he said while fiddling with a football in his hands. "I told the folks in Ohio that we'd kick Ohio State's ass!" (It remains unclear if Biden actually ever told Ohio voters this.)

Biden, a proud University of Delaware alum, was clearly trying to rally his Division 1-AA team ahead of their match-up with Furman this weekend, but the comments couldn't have come at a worse time for faithful Buckeye fans who saw their team suffer a 35-3 trouncing at the hands of USC last weekend.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/19/biden-in-hot-water-with-some-ohioans/

I kind of helped you there with the bold font but this line was clearly pulled out of the writers ass. I can't think of one time that Joe has has gone off-message---can you?

Next--- any right thinking Buckeye fans will know that Joe was throwing some football smack out when he said that his Division 1-AA Delaware team could beat the Buckeyes. First off, it's little old Delaware in Division 1-AA--- and if there's a few Moran Buckeye fans who really think that Delaware can beat thew Buckeyes, then let the Repubs have them. It would be like me saying that my college team, the Miami Hurricanes could kick the New England Patriots ass. It's funny to any knowledgeable football fan and one would clearly know that Joe, the Delaware Alumni, was having fun.

This is the kind of journalistic bullshit that ya gotta watch out for. This is the type of crap they did to Gore in 2000, and Kerry in 2008 and I suspect that we'll see much more of this in the next 60 days--- the media's gotta keep it a horse race for them's ratings.

1. I doubt that
many voters will decide which candidate to vote for based on Senator Biden's comments on sports. I do think that the more the public is exposed to Senator Biden's public presentations, the greater the support for the democratic ticket will be. It's a shame that some "journalists" resort to this type of nonsense.

6. There are, of course,
mindless people who substitute a search for reasons to be offended for a search for truth. They will take pleasure in being offended by anything and everything, from the color of a person's skin, to comments on sports or even the weather. Nothing offends some folks more than hearing the truth. Still, I think it is better for Obama and Biden to tell the truth, rather than be silenced, because some people might be offended.

I will say, though, that they should focus almost exclusively on the sport of boxing.

8. Greeat response from our side:
David Wade, a spokesman for Biden said, “I think this episode explains exactly why we’ll win Ohio: Joe Biden is loyal to his home team, and John McCain is loyal to President Bush."

11. Since the media has entirely ignored Biden in favor of McPalin
it seems ironic that even ilk like CNN is trying to generate faux outrage and controversy to get him into a news cycle and it still isn't working!

16. Besides CNN's false spin, I want to know why this is even a story, much
less something that deserves to be placed on the main page, above "the fold", and remain there for over 12 hours. With everything that went on yesterday, this was the most important story they felt that readers needed to know about?

23. Biden was probably right!
Ohio State is usually vastly overrated (as is the entire Big 10). The Blue Hens are one of the better programs in 1-AA. Remember, they held Maryland to 14 points a couple of weeks ago, so they can play with the big boys.

And let me offer two words to the doubters. Appalachian State.

My wife, parents, brother, and sister all graduated from 1-AA schools, so I actually follow football at that level.
