137. I lived in Atlanta on three separate occasions....

The first time, I was too young to understand the signifcance of KKK rallies on Stone Mountain. The second, I was into career and able to block out the blatant racism and hatred that fills many in the areas outside Atlanta (and some of the suburbs). The third, I was well aware, having been greeted as I looked for housing by black arm- banded KKK marchers in Woodstock, GA. While I'm not black, I don't think I could have been anymore horrified (or frightened) had I been. Such hate and anger in their faces and I, as a "mere female" meant nothing to them.

I empathize with all my fellow DUers living in GA. We have nuts, including white supremists, fundie RWers, and general Repug assholes out the wazoo here in Colorado, too, but I do realize you all are dealing with an even more repugnant breed there. I enjoyed some poetic justice when I last left Atlanta to fly out to Denver, since that was the very day Gingrich was returning to GA after being shamed from his role in Congress. Yet Kerry has yet to get tough on Iraq. Kerry has tons of stuff to throw back at Bush and Co. for Iraq. I'm talking about the whole war. From misleading the world, to present day. Kerry is basically letting them off the hook for the mess in Iraq.

It's time for the Kerry camp to talk about Iraq. Not just post war planning and basically admit that they would have done the same thing as Bush, even though no WMD was found. The time to get tough was months and months ago.
