It's 4:02am.... why am I awake?

Are we facing a financial "9/11"?

Did it already happen, or is it about to?

Half of me wants the bailout... get this behind us... save the banks... avert a deep recession... save jobs, 401ks, savings

...but... maybe save McCain's campaign

Half of me says fuck no... why save the bastards... let the markets self-correct... might lose my job over it... two teenage kids, how will I maintain our lifestyle?... ride it out...

...but... Obama wins in a landslide

Talk me off the ledge, DU. I'm leaning toward supporting the bailout, and hoping the anger among the electorate stays through Nov 4th ... even as the worst of the crisis is averted.

I love this country. But have we seen the tipping point of the end of our world dominance?
Can President Obama return us to our place of prominence as the envy of the world?

Sorry for the incoherence. I'm looking at my sleeping kids and wondering what the fuck is going to happen over the next 6 months.

To us as a family
To us as a country
To us as a planet

I'm putting my faith in Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. If they say the bailout is what we need to do....then I'm with them.

If we can survive The Great Depression and World War Two there is no way a couple shitheads like Bush and McCain could ever keep us down for long.

2. Try planning a nice veggie garden for next summer.
It always helps me get to sleep!

Don't let them them make you choose fear over love.

Just keep on loving your family and extend it out to your neighbors, your city, your state, your country and the whole wide world.

5. Because:
If you're like me, and I know you're not, you're wondering why any wingnut is even considering voting for John McCain.

Considering that:

If the Republican Party even gave a good goddamn about the fetuses they're supposedly all about saving then WHY haven't they made stopping abortion their ABSOLUTE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY AT ALL TIMES??!!!??!

Why isn't a bill to CRIMINALIZE THE MURDER OF MILLIONS OF BABIES being introduced on the floor of Congress EVERY SINGLE DAY??!!??

Why haven't they introduced an AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION to declare that LIFE BEGINS AT CONCEPTION??!!?? EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!

EVERY SINGLE DAY!!

I mean, Jesus Jumping Tap Dance Christ, MILLIONS OF BABIES ARE BEING KILLED EVERY DAY. And, EVERY SPERM IS SACRED!!!1! Callous harlots are KILLING INNOCENT BAYBEES!!1! As we speak.

And yet, Republicans are more concerned about bailing out hedge fund managers and continuing the war in the Middle East. They SAY they want to SAVE THE BAYBEEZ but they seem to have more pressing priorities. WTF??!?

WHO WILL SAVE THE BAYBEEZ??!!?1 WHO WILL PROTECT THE SACRED SPERM FROM THE SLUTS WHO WANTONLY REJECT IT??!1 WHY DO OUR CONGRESSMAN CARE MORE ABOUT THEIR MONEY THAN THE BAYBEEEEEEEZ??!!??1!ELEVEN!!

Oh, you were saying?

7. Look--they've been planning this for at least two months
If it was a real emergency, someone would have said something earlier. I say, no equity? Then fuck the bailout. If we have to buy it, we get to exert some control over it.
