Quite a few of you seem to think Barack Obama is a fucking idiot
traipsing merrily and obliviously into a trap laid by the diabolically brilliant John McCain.

Get. A. Grip.

Obama is a very bright, reflective man. He's a terrific politician. It's extremely doubtful that you know what to do and he doesn't.

Bunch of armchair politicians that have no friggin clue what the inside of a committee room even looks like. Watching Meet the Press every Sunday doesn't mean you're qualified to give political advice, okay?

for us smartasses to be "over-the-top enough?" Like it's impossible to do satire anymore--or, as Lilly Tomlin said, "No matter how cynical you are, you can't keep up."

Only to read downthread that the poster was serious. As Jon Stewart used to say after playing a GW clip and just shrugging his shoulders, "political satire is dead. I mean, how make you that any funnier than it already is?"

13. McCain and the Republicans get far too much credit
for being diabolically brilliant IMO. The shit you describe is downright embarrassing, it would be laughable if it came from newbies and obvious trolls but I'm disgusted by the number of long time posters now showing themselves to be pretty damned simple.

I'm convinced that Obama's campaign has a little bit of an idea about what's going on and I'm sure glad they aren't populated by the doom and gloom whiners we have around here today.

If they had opposed the war, we would have lost in 2002 and in 2004 and we wouldnt have such an airtight majority in congress now- errr wait....

Next thing you know we will want to make comments or (GASP!) have INPUT into how the party we send money to handles itself.

24. Well, although Barack seems very bright and has handled things
brilliantly so far, we have seen Gore and Kerry, also seemingly bright men, fall for Republicon tricks. Hell, I'm thinking that Jimmy Carter was pretty smart, but he didn't have a come-back for "well, there you go again." If he had shot back quickly with "yes, here, I go again because it's important and bears repeating..." then the world might have been a better place.

the same of others. He's also quite insulated while running for office.

I have to say many of us here knew what other brilliant Dems didn't appear to before the war and then some.

Gore wasn't an idiot, neither was Kerry, neither became President.

28. I agree. It's not Obama that is the problem. It's the cowardly Democrats
They just caved on the offshore drilling ban JUST YESTERDAY!! The Dems have a history of giving Bush and the Repukes everything they want. They don't have enough votes in the Senate to stave off a trap set by Bush and McCoward. I just don't want them to cave in this time.

I fully trust Obama. I don't trust the Dems, particularly the DLC and Blue Dogs.

Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 03:13 PM by Dr Fate
I dont think he is an idiot- and so far, so good- although I think he should be further ahead in the polls.

I basically agree with you-DEM politicans-including Obama, are pretty smart- but I will reject any notion that Duers who have seen 8 years of failure after failure after failure after failure should just shut up and assume that DEMS will always do the right thing when it comes to strategy.

I think questioning certain moves and suggesting alternatives are fine (its not like anyone at the top ever listens anyway)-so long as those doing so are still fully supporting the ticket...
