USA Today: 78% support the bailout ... link
http://www.usatoday.com/money/economy/2008-09-25-poll-results_N.htm

I think those worried that Obama is falling into a trap by supporting the bailout are off base, if this poll is any indication.

1. IF this is accurate, then we have to use it to our advantage politically.
I know many of us are pissed, but if they go ahead with it, we've got to do what we can to take 'credit'.

3. But how many of that 78% have even the simplest understanding of what's going on? They only know to
fear NOT having a bailout...

8. Not many, but to sound severe, it doesn't matter if they really get it or not.
Not when this election may be influenced by the parties' stance/support/opposition.

We can't hope to educate them in the next few days. And they're scared - they are looking for some reassurance. Regardless of whether this will really help or not, that assurance may play a big part in their decision of whom to support.

9. If there are many like me...
in that 78% they have no idea what is going on. I'm sure that it is not that difficult to answer the What, Where, When, Why & How.

5. These polls are all over the place. Rasmussen has one saying only 30% support it.

7. I'm finding that even my political science students don't really understand the
bailout. That worries me...
