What would happen if McCain suddenly dropped out?
For whatever reason, health, wanted to spend time with family (yeah), everyone told him they never liked him anyway (most likely), etc. What would happen with the election? Palin surely wouldn't be able to run for prez would she? I'm already having nightmares.

8. That would totally mess with the already printed butterfly ballots.

2. I bet a lot of people on the Right hope it's the case that Palin replaces McCain...
...and they should definitely be careful what they wish for...

5. I read on some Rapture Ready "Christian" Forums that
they are praying for McCain to die after elected so Sarah would be POTUS.

3. the RNC would have to square it with the Sec of State's to make sure they get someone on each states
ballot

I dont know if there is a deadline for the ballots, but early voting starts soon in some places

11. Too late for that to happen.
If McCain died before the election I could see that those voting for him would consider it voting for Palin to be President.

I said those voting for him.

For McCain to drop out I am not sure that would be considered the same.

4. No way they will not let that happen! Even if he DIES, it will be weekend
with Bernie time, then Miss Mooseburger can be the next prez. They obsolutely need some puppet without a clue in the WH.

6. It would be similar to what happened to us when Wellstone died
The RNC would have to meet -- kinda like a mini convention. They could go with Palin and pick a substitute VP, or they could simply pick a presidential surrogate. Partly, it would depend how soon before the election it happened.

13. I don't think so. If he drops out and his ticket wins I would think
most likely she would be President under the 25th Amendment and then she nominates a replacement for VP requiring confirmation of the both Houses of Congress.

14. I don't think the 25th Amendment would apply to a candidate prior to election day
I would agree if they'd been elected (sorry .. threw up in my mouth a little), and then McSame passed away before the innaguration.

7. You would wake up from the dream you're having.... :-)
...... it's not gonna happen.

What WILL happen though is that he will continue this insanity of a campaign that he is running until everyone in the Republican party WISHES he would drop out .... but he's too much of a ...... whatever ........ he's not gonna quit.

Fortunately, neither are we. ;-)

10. Thanks folks
I had gotten to thinking about him dodging the debate Friday to "save America". And wondered just how terrified he might be to realize that he absolutely sucks as a presidential candidate. You know that he knew he'd get his ass whupped by Obama in a debate. Still will, actually! I wondered if he realized just how 'in over his head' he actually was, and kinda wished he could use Mr. Peabody's great machine.

17. I think
the executive committee of the RNC would chose a replacement. Need to do a little research to verify it.
