Zell Miller Speech and Interviews = Howard Dean Scream? |
|
In other words, it's likely that the speech and the footage of the post speech interviews will be played over and over tomorrow, just as the Dean scream was.
And it will do far more damage.
After all their hard work to hide their wackos this week, they selected this nutcase to showcase?

1. What do you want to bet they don't play it 700 times |
|
like they did Dean's rallying the troops without the sound of the supporters(manipulating the microphones)? After all they are there to get bush re-elected not stomp on the hopes of the supporters of a popular Dem Governor who was running in the Primaries.

2. You're probably right . . . |
|
But Miller made the same mistake that Dean made - playing for the room and forgetting about what the the wider audience would think.

3. Dean was rallying his troops and in the heat of the moment |
|
didn't think about the media suppressing the microphone.
Please don't compare zell to Dean!

5. I'm not comparing Zell to Dean - I'm saying they made the same mistake |
|
Like Dean, Zell got caught up in the spirit of the true believers and forgot that he needed to address the wider audience.
By the way,the media didn't suppress Dean's microphone. The press took the sound right off of the multbox, which provides a direct feed from the mike and, thus, eliminates most of the crowd noise. That's the way it's done at all of these events. Not a plot against Dean.

Dean is not! And if it wasn't a "plot", then why did they play it "700" times?

10. The fact they picked up on it after the fact and ran it into the ground |
|
doesn't mean that they plotted it in advance.
Trust me - this was NOT done intentionally in advance. Dean's own advance people set up the sound system, provided the multboxes and controlled the audio that went to the press. The press just plugged their audio equipment into the multboxes and took the direct feed from Dean's mike. There were a few portable network cameras moving around the room that picked up both Dean and the ambient crowd noise.
It was NOT a plot.

21. But this was a fully vetted speech.. |
|
..Dean's "moment" WAS much more unscripted, no one can deny that.
This was the freakin' keynote address of the RNC.
This wasn't "bad mikes", this was what they wanted to get out.

23. You're completely missing my point . . . |
|
Dean's downfall in that speech was that it was directed toward the true believers in the room who 1) understood why he was shouting; 2) who were demoralized and needed pepping up; and 3) who already knew Dean and knew he wasn't nuts. However, he should have directed his speech to the people on the other side of the camera lens, many of whom were watching him for the first time and whose opinions would make a big difference for him in upcoming primaries.
Like Dean, Miller (and the RNC folks who vetted and approved his speech) made a similar mistake. Instead of directing his remarks to the undecided voters who are looking for a reason to vote for George Bush, Miller directed his speech (and post-speech interviews) to the true believers who wanted nothing but red meat from him and, thus, came across to those outside of the room as as an out-of-control nut.

Tonight will be benchmark by which all future backlashes are measured. It will make Pat Buchanan's 1992 speech look tame by comparison.

That's why they picked him. It's a win/win situation for the Pukkes.
The whole enterprise is so moribund though that it hardly matters.

16. The media might, though--too juicy to pass up, and besides, |
|
he threatened one of their own. He's small enough fry that they can carve him up and not worry too much about offending the Republican Powers That Be. I rather think they'll have themselves a good time with this one.

I smell a switch to 24/7 hurricane coverage as damage control by the Corporate Media through their RNC taskmasters.

I truly hopw this disaster suddely veers east and out to sea, for the sake of the people of Fla. But if you listen to the weather, they're all saying it won't hit land until late Fri or sometime Sat. This story will rule until something else takes over.
I still hope it's not disaster in Fla.

|
The other networks may pass it up because it didn't happen on their chanel too. I love to laugh at Dean's breakdown but Zell's was ten times worse. A US Senator just thratened to shoot and beat up a reporter. Zell is a lunatic. It should be played over and over, but it won't be.
