Zell the William Jennings Bryan of our age
That has to be the weirdest thing I have ever seen in my life.

In a way it is very sad that chimp put him up to this and then to have the guy be completely and utterly humiliated like that.

I don't think they will be using Zell on the rest of the campaign.

2. I wish that this could happen to Nader.
His day is coming soon.... but this is a great analogy.

5. and the Chimp's re election campaign
is a wierd parody of the Stokes trial.
In this case its the reverse of natural selection... humans have devolved into apes with respect to the Bushes. Actually apes have better morals.

7. He challenged Tweety to a duel, but was even worse

In a post speech interview he went absolutely nuts. It would be hard to explain how humiliating it was for him. It was a bad as the final courtroom scene in Inherit the Wind, except he didn't die.

8. Wasn't his opposition to evolution mainly because of Social Darwinism?
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 11:44 PM by elperromagico
If so, I would say that his latter day opposition to evolution was very much in keeping with his Populist beliefs.

Bryan was really very liberal for his time. He supported women's suffrage, labor rights, and campaign finance reform. The Scopes Trial is an odd period in his life, but I think he did it with good intentions. I could be wrong...

10. You guys are going too deep.
I'm only talking about his depiction in Inherit the Wind. THe last scene when he loses it.

Sorry about the shallow reference.:D

After I read this thread, I saw about 60 others on this board all talking about the same thing. I am so sorry I missed this but maybe I can find a link and watch it later.
