8. Party, some distance away. |
|
Now here's my question: It was stated that the debate could not go on without McPain, because that would constitute an illegal contribution to the Obama campaign. Why should that be, since McPain was invited, said he was coming, and subsequently acted like he was backing out? What if Bob Barr, Ron Paul, and/or Ralph Nader were invited in McPain's place -- would that have made it nonpartisan? But for me the real issue is why it becomes legally partisan were one of the parties to the debate were to back out?

10. I'm watching it with my daughter - she has a scorecard |
|
she has to fill out for her highschool AP Government and Politics class. Here's the text. She needs to fill out one of these for each of the candidates for each of the Pres/VP debates. This is gonna be fun :)
"What You Need to Do...in order to win a debate"
1) Lower expectations (so if you win, you WIN and if you lose, it isn't a big deal) 2) Looks matter (dress to impress, shave, comb, wear flattering make-up) 3) Know your facts (don't insist and avoid "gotcha" mistakes like the Soviets didn't control Eastern Europe) 4) A quip is all you need to blow off your opponent (there you go again) 5) Show emotion (at least act like you have some) 6) Show that you care about "the people" and their problems (plus, don't check your watch) 7) Don't be a know-it-all (no one likes the person who belittles or makes people feel stupid) 8) Be careful with your expressions (don't roll your eyes, sigh loudly, creepily walk toward the other person) 9) Experience matters (avoid "trap" questions and responses from your opponents)
