No Mary Cheney on stage
Notice that Mary was not on stage? Funny how the rest of the family is there...funny how Mary was up there 4 years ago...funny how Mary was in the venue in a dressing room backstage...funny how they keep the lesbian daughter in the closet during their display of 'compassion'.

6. That really ought to result in some blowback to Cheney et al...
at least from any moderate undecideds who were watching, but who knows....

5. Yep, Mary Cheney not allowed to be in family photo
That should get a few more Republicans to vote for Bush.

7. Funny how Cheney thrives on the "family values" ticket
but doesn't have the guts to defend his own daughter against the insults thrown out by the likes of Keyes. It's very telling there what Dick really thinks about family values.

8. To be fair, maybe she didn't want to be on stage for whatever reason
John Heinz has not shown his face in the campaign. Who knows what his reasons are. I agree that Mary Cheney is not the ideal republican daughter, but maybe there is nothing more to her absence from the stage than a desire to be low-key.

15. John Heinz isn't campaigning at all, Mary Cheney IS , she is in public
the comparison doesn't make sense because kerry's oldest stepson john heinz IS not working on the campaign at all which is why he isn't there.

but mary cheney IS . she is doing work, she isn't trying to stay out of the public spot light. but she had to stay away in this case just because she is a lesbian.

9. Perhaps she refused
after Alan Keyes' recent comment about her sexual preferences.

I wonder what the Republicans would do with a gay minority person? I mean, they don't want a gay person up on the podium, but they want as many minorities as possible. I think the decision might make their heads explode.

10. She made the decision
Around 7 o'clock or so, one of the cable news networks (forget which one because I'm switching back and forth between MSNBC/CNN most of the time) said that they had been contacted by the campaign telling them she would be watching from off-site. Newsbunny said they did not give an explanation why she had made the decision, but made it clear it was her decision.

Speculation came that it would piss off the 'conservative' on the floor.

11. Mary didn't wanna be set up like a bowling pin in front of a bigoted crowd
I don't blame her. In 2000 that gay Republican from Arizona made a speech, and all Religious wrong in the crowd turned away and prayed to Gee-sus.
