Why Obama Agreed with McCain So Much |
|
The reason Obama kept saying, "You're right, John" so much is simple. He and his campaign advisers are very clever. They knew the pundits would immediately jump on this constant agreement and would call him on it. And what do Obama's surrogates say in response? "Why wouldn't he agree with McCain, if he thinks McCain is right? The American people want a President who is willing to work with everyone, and not be afraid to agree with people across the aisle if he thinks they're right."
This is exactly why the independents are heavily in favor of Obama.

1. Very statesman like. I thought Obama was very civil to an older and... |
|
less able fellow senator. Very polite, even... diplomatic. :applause:

Yes, didn't bother me at all. Obama demonstrated he would break free from the partisan divide created by Bush -- and showed in a subtle way that McCain could not. All McCain wanted to do was distance himself from Obama -- even if they said the same thing. That's partisanship at its worst.

6. He grabbed some voters by doing that..... |
|
He acknowledged "I understand why you think that way -- why you think you are right" then showed the new, improved, progressing way of looking at the matter by expanding on the issue past their way of thinking beforehand.
It was brilliant of Obama.

8. Maybe that's what he intended |
|
But it came off as sounding asinine, when he kept repeating that. Would've been better just to say what he intended to do, and that he'd be willing to work with those across the aisle. The word "agree" has no place in any statement about your opponent.
