Life is strange...it's all about serendipity:
Just think: if CBS hadn't made the bone-headed move of hiring Katie Couric to run the CBS Evening News, the McCain campaign might not have agreed to an anchor interview thinking, perhaps, that she was 'benign'. With few props to her journalistic skills as an heir to the Murrow/Cronkite tradition, her demeanor and professionalism was perfect for this encounter. For average Americans, it was as if Shirley Temple asked a few questions of her fellow-actor in a film: it elicited Palin's patented stupidity without seeming to abuse her personally, and that disarming smile of Couric's which I generally dislike intensely, came in handy.

It wil all have been worth it if this particular interview turns out to have been the catalyst for the political end-times of Sarah Palin.
