Serious Question: Does McCain pay cash for his healthcare or is he using his Gov't coverage? |
|
I tried to Google this question but only came up with his proposal for coverage plan and his history on voting as a Senator.

5. I have a whole LTTE about McCain his government run health care. |
|
The paper hasn't run it yet. I think they're waiting for the domestic policy debate when hopefully this issue will be explored. Too much other stuff is coming down and I'll bet the paper is getting LOTS of LTTEs.

3. McCain has been on government healthcare every day of his miserable life. |
|
But he sure seems to have a problem with the general public's healthcare being gov't run.
Hypocrite.

4. If this is true, the Obama campaign should make issue of McCain accepting Gov't run healthcare... |
|
especially with his extreme wealth (and houses and cars)

13. Until he fights for saving tax payer money by eliminating health care and pensions for legislatures |
|
he is a hypocrite - they can start saving money by not giving themselves raises and dealing with the same health care and pension issues as the rest of us. McCain could not get health care coverage with his plan - too many pre-existing conditions.

8. At his age, he would have Medicare, right? |
|
As far as I know, private insurance when an insured turns 65 discontinues coverage. There may be a companion policy, but IMO private insurance is out of the picture. Of course, he can pay out of pocket for anything which is not covered.

10. So, as an independently wealthy Senator, he would STILL be accepting Gov't coverage? |
|
My point is he belittles gov't run healthcare but takes advantage of it!!!

12. Oh, yeah, I totally agree...plus, I just thought of this: |
|
As a vet, he can choose between Medicare and continuing any VA health coverage he has with Medicare as a secondary coverage. A pal of mine who recently turned 65 and is a Navy vet did that.
So no matter how you cut it, McCain has government coverage. I should note, however: I have nooooooooo problem with ANY vet who has served honorably getting VA benefits due to his/her service. I think, however, when a vet is fabulously wealthy that consideration should be given to the VA budget in regard to coverage for those vets who have no alternatives but VA coverage and the VA benefits should be declined in favor of private pay.

15. Agreed. Since McCain is fabulously wealthy and "HATES wasteful gov't spending"... |
|
shouldn't he decline gov't coverage to save us some taxpayer dollars. He can certainly afford his own coverage.

...he is the spouse of a lady who runs a very sucessful company. I would believe that her company has employee health plans that cover spouses, right? So...why is McCain using taxpayer dollars?

11. For gov't employees 65+, Medicare is the primary and you have the option to continue the gov't plan |
|
which will become the secondary (supplemental) provider, picking up whatever Medicare doesn't cover. This is assuming that you stay with the gov't plan and continue to pay premiums for it. So if McLame is still paying his gov't premiums, then Medicare would automatically be the primary and whatever Medicare didn't cover, his gov't plan would review and pick up. There is an out of pocket deductible for the gov't plan in any case.

18. Don't forget: McSame gets a Navy pension, social security |

and his congressional salary. Oh yeah, he's been at the government teat his whole life. He's the ultimate "welfare queen." (I hate that term, but it does seem to fit here.)
