I Was Watching Clips Of The 1992 Debate Recently, And It Struck Me...
just how much more like a president Obama seems than Clinton did when he ran in 1992. Clinton, not to disparage him at all, looks completely stiff and canned in this debate. Obviously he improved over time.

see it here ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taNw43q_-Cw

Obama, on the other hand, looked about as comfortable as you can possibly be on the biggest stage a person can be on. You'd really think he's the sitting president and he's running for re-election with a 70% approval rating the way he conducted himself last night.

Just watch the 1992 debate and compare how Bill Clinton, and even GHWB, looked as opposed to Obama last night.

The guy is a natural. He's the Tiger Woods of politics.

If this is how he looks now, without any presidential gravitas, what is he going to look like in four years?

1. Daddy Bush called Clinton/Gore 'bozos' and was condescending like McCain
It didn't help Daddy Bush in 1992 to be insulting and contemptuous of Clinton and Gore calling them clowns and bozos. So I was reminded of that by last night's debate in the way McCain insulted Obama. Even though it was infuriating, I am hopeful it turned voters against McCain and made Obama's composed responses even more impressive.

2. Very astute observation, Magic Rat. . .
. . .and, FWIW, my take on Obama's natural statesmanship comes from having to be challenged all his life as a mixed race person. . .adjusting to all the people/subcultures that he was a part of but had to work at being FULLY accepted into.

Practice makes perfect. . .he's not afraid of failure because he knows daily how being magnanimous wins your enemies over every time.

This statesmanship naturalness is the very thing that makes other politicos pea-green with envy. . .and makes some give tepid instead of unflappable support for Obama by saying ambiguous comments. . .or some who cannot look him in the eye. . .these politicians are

P R O F O U N D L Y J E A L O U S.

These less "centered" politicians are intimidated by Obama and won't ever admit it.
