On Saturday, a top adviser to Bush said the president plans to offer
specific policy proposals on Social Security and other issues during
his Thursday acceptance speech.

Karen Hughes hinted that Bush would disclose a plan for partial
privatization of Social Security. "You just heard him talk about
an
ownership society," Hughes told reporters. "He wants to give
a chance
for younger workers to own a piece of their own retirement."

1. In his acceptance speech at the DNC, Kerry said, "I will not privatize
social security." I realize these words are ambiguous and subject to interpretation, but . . .

2. Bush wants trade companies to have a piece of our....
retirement. Unless, you have lots of money invested, trade fees look small, but if you don't have much money invested, the fees are very large and it's not worth investing. Poor people would be better off gambling at their local Indian Casino.

Even middle class Americans are not educated about investments. My hub has a PhD (mathematic expert) and does some of our investments himself. But, he has to spend all day sitting at his laptop watching the stocks go up and down to protect our investments. He's retired and has all the time in the world to waste. Believe me, this is gambling. Privatizing SS will be the biggest trick and downfall on our poor and middle class population who need SS in their old age.

It's only a win-win situation for multi-billion dollar trade companies and republicans. Besides, this will be the biggest Enron-like theft in the world.

Remember, bush only pushes what's best for big corp and nothing of benefit to our citizens.

3. Yup -- Social Security Needs to Take the Front Burner Again
"Save social security" was a winning line for Clinton. It's the best way I can think of to get the average voter concerned about the size of the deficits.

And you thought his first term was a nightmare
What Bush has planned for America if he wins.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
By Charles Tiefer

Aug. 25, 2004 | .... Under Bush's slogan of an "ownership society," the Republicans intend a long-term effort, using changes in Medicare, Social Security and taxes to pit better-off and worse-off Democrats against each other, offering all-but-irresistible incentives for some to desert the others -- and any progressive national coalition. .... A second-term Bush agenda will constantly impale Democrats on the dilemma of abandoning their poorer, sicker, older and minority groups, or seeing their better-off, healthier and younger members lured off to the other party. If it sounds like a political nightmare for the Democrats, that's because that's what it is planned to be. ....
