McCain on the debate: "I was a little disappointed the media called it a tie, but that means we win"
McCain offers support for bailout deal
He calls Republican leaders on the talks; campaign readies attack ad

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26918643/

Sen. John McCain conducts phone calls from his campaign headquarters in Arlington, Va., on Saturday.

After making a dramatic entrance on Capitol Hill Thursday to be part of the bailout negotiations, McCain stayed away Saturday as lawmakers inched toward an agreement. He made phone calls to the White House and GOP leaders from his suburban condominium and later at campaign headquarters.

Aides said that in addition to Bush, McCain spoke with Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, and about a dozen influential Republicans including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Rep. Eric Cantor, a leader of a House GOP effort to craft an alternative plan.

While the Arizona senator has repeatedly insisted the dire financial crisis was a time for leadership and not politics, Friday's debate — and its potential impact on the presidential campaign going forward — was clearly on his mind.

"I was a little disappointed the media called it a tie. But I think that means when they call it a tie that means we win," McCain told Mississippi Rep. Chip Pickering after speaking to him about the bailout deal pending in Congress, one of a handful of calls McCain was heard making when campaign aides briefly allowed reporters in to see him.

That's what has been done with Bush. McCain is just like Bush, only more dangerous.

Horsefeathers. It was "touted" that he'd win this since he has so much clout on Foreign Affairs :eyes: even with the pundits he only came out a tie.. with the American voters (they one's the actually MATTER) he LOST.

and they are saying that the McCain camp was honestly and pleasantly surprised by his performance at the debate....wow, they must not have much faith in their candidate, if this was an improvement.

22. I honestly believe they were happy and should be
Yes, of course he delivered all the same old stump lines and supported lots of policies the public doesn't agree with, so of course the public is happier with Obama. And so much of the McCain TV campaign has been invested in really ugly caricatures of Obama, and the public may be rejecting some of that with what they saw on Friday.

But McCain's campaign should be happy or at least relieved:

1) He didn't fall asleep.
2) Other than the "horseshit" he largely kept his temper under control.
3) It was 90 minutes with Palin.
4) He didn't confuse Sunni with Shia.
5) He didn't have one of those 10-seconds-of-vacant-stare moments.
6) He didn't add any more countries to the McCain invasion list.

He definitely outperformed by expectations. And if the polls are to be believed, so did America.

20. Out of the loop
I am begining to think that McBush is being sheltered from what is actually going on. I don't believe he is getting the news that all of us are seeing or he is simply in denial of reality.
