Obama has staked out one position on the bailout bill, House GOP has staked out another
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 11:16 AM by scheming daemons
It's amazing to see how many DUers are willing to believe the House GOP's version of events over that of our own Presidential nominee and our party's leaders in congress.

Incredible.

Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank, Kerry have one position.

On the other side is the House GOP member aping what Newt Gingrich has told them to think.

....and so many DUers are thinking that what Gingrich has said about the bailout is correct, and what Obama has said is incorrect.

That's just an amazing thing to me. Who, in congress, is trying to kill the bailout? The people we hate the most.

Through the looking glass...

6. Bernie Sanders WANTS a depression.. to drive home how bad the GOP has been....
I don't want to live through that, just to prove the GOP are idiots.

The bailout will buy us time to get Obama in and get REAL REFORMS.

16. Exactly! Why can't people see that the far left Dems in Congress
are playing politics with this crap too?? They want to teach the GOP a lesson. Meanwhile, millions of people will be losing their jobs over this.

We don't screw the country to teach the GOP a lesson. We teach them a lesson by FIXING the messes that they started! It's what FDR did.

The VOTERS don't want the bailout! Because remember, voters are experts on how the American economy works. :eyes:

8. You mean the same ones who elected
Bush two times (or left it close enough to steal). How dare we question their wisdom.

11. the voters who voted to ban gay marriage in their states.
The voters who back in the 60s railed tooth and nail against desegregation. The voters who, yes, voted twice for Bush. Yeah, I wonder why we don't put more complex matters such as these in the hands of the voters.

I'm reminded on a regular basis why representative democracy is so important.

10. Apparently, those numbers are changing as people think it through...
last week, it was like 70% against. Someone posted this morning, that it's now practically a 3 way split, with 30-something on each position; for it/against it/undecided.

Don't have a link, but if I can remember which topic it was in, I'll post it.

12. Good! That bodes well for Obama politically.
I wonder how McCain is going to vote on this. He did say that something needed to be done. Will he stand by his word?

18. The sum total of most people's knowledge of how the economy works...
(and for that matter of the history and consequences of previous financial crises, of which we've not faced one of this magnitude in nearly 80 years) could probably be written on the rim of a shot glass with a blunt crayon. With space left over.

suddenly against Wall Street. Idiots. Wall Street WILL get its bailout one way or another--the House GOPers are counting on that---but they want it to be a "back-door" bailout with no taxpayer control (through Congressional legislation and regulation of how that money is used) or benefit. They want the money with no strings, no oversight, so that the greedfest can continue--and so that they get the "populist" anger in their favor.

9. Just too simple. Like easy to say I hate war; it resonates, but doesn't solve the problems.

15. the question was never intended to solve the problem
Dennis has a track record of being RIGHT. Ask people in Cleveland if they wish their public utility had been deregulated.
Dennis has proposed legislation for a bailout plan that would actually benefit citizens rather than Wall street.
