I have announced to my daughters that it is no longer neccessary to aspire to be the best that they can be. I have advised them instead to lower their standards, and just make sure to have good looking Glass Frames.
In the future, in order to compete with men; they just need to bat their eyes, wear a skirt, speak in an inarticulate manner, and they will succeed in attaining the American Dream!
My oldest daughter, a senior at Harvard is now pissed at me. She told me that I should have told her this a long time ago.

...that you aren't that far off.
There are many ways to succeed in corporate America. Unfortunately, one way is to have the right look and become a backbiting manipulator.
I've also seen many kind, gracious, truly-smart people rise to the top in their professions.
You can succeed by being real and by behaving like a human being. It does happen.
Unfortunately, in much of corporate America--you are heavily rewarded for being hot and for playing along with the boys.
If you want to see a rash of women like this---look at big pharma's sales reps. It's sick.

5. What is sickest is that Palin is undoing about 35 years of work |
|
done by some of the greatest women of our time....and for what? To lose?
Not only will she lose, but she has made all women lose.....a lot! :(

Sarah Palin is an archetype of that attractive, dumb-but manipulative, narcissistic woman.
Bringing her out into the sunlight is a good thing. Usually, people have to suffer in silence with a boss or a colleague who is like this. It's very difficult to explain to others how awful women like this are. Now America knows. Now, we've got a living, breathing Barbie doll and America is talking about her.
The good news is--that this paradigm of female behavior is being torn down like a pinata--for all to see.
Sure, everyone likes a pretty-faced charmer at first. However, the bloom is off the rose and America is collectively rejecting her act. I predict that Sarah Palin will make it more difficult for women like this to succeed.
I predict that phrases like, "She's a total Palin" and "Don't promote her...she's not smart enough and she'll be Palinized" will become a permanent part of our lexicon.
That's good news for your daughters and for mine as well.

lol lol lol the thing. our society has really spent about a decade conditioning our youngest of girls in this way. i am seeing it in the 20 something and younger. i have 10 and 13 yr old boys that are too being conditioned that this is all a female is. and is all a male should want from a female.
you listen to a portion of our males on this site and you hear it clearly. the republicans once again picked up the very worst of who we are and presented it to us. just like they did getting a dumb shit bush and saying this is what we are.
on edit: to further the point. the last handful of years i have seen a real effort from boys that are conditioned being dumb is a good thing. so male dumb, female a piece. that is what we have reduced ourselves too. not just an attack at one gender

6. The role of women is regressing..... |
|
This is not good.
I was somewhat peturbed that Hillary was getting breaks because she had been married to the President, but she was qualified. This Palin is like a thousand times worse. Ugh!

9. WTH are you talking about |
|
"speak in an articulate manner"
That's not necessary anymore. Palin doesn't even know how to put a noun and verb together properly.

I laughed at the humor I see in what you have written...wanted to cry over the fact that it's eerily becoming true with Palin's "success".
