Reps. LaTourette, Kucinich explain 'no' votes on bailout bill
CLEVELAND -- Congressmen Steve LaTourette and Dennis Kucinich both voted against the bailout bill because it does not contain enough protections for the taxpayer.

"The taxpayer is paying for it," said LaTourette, of the revised bailout bill that he and other House members rejected Monday afternoon by a margin of 228-205. "The people who made the mess should clean up the mess."

In an interview with Channel 3 News, LaTourette, a Republican, and Kucinich, a Democrat, say the strongarm tactics of leaders of both of their parties to get the bill passed backfired.

Seven Ohio congressional representatives voted for the bailout and 10 against.

The Ohio House members who voted 'yes' are: Deborah Pryce, Ralph Regula, Tim Ryan, Zack Space, Charlie Wilson, David Hobson and John Boehner.

3. Yeah but.....
I'm afraid the taxpayers are REALLY going to pay for it if something isn't done. It's starting to look like another depression could be upon us before we know it, and that scares the hell out of me.

4. same thought process helped Reagan lead revolt against
welfare.

Its so important to "punish" the wrong doers that it doesn't matter if 200 innocents are harmed for every one of the abusers

Remember that many of us in Iowa are still waiting for Congress's vote on disaster assistance that they couldn't squeeze in before going on their summer recess. :eyes:

8. Of course, his job, his medical benefits are secure
So why not be so smug about "protecting tax payers?" The way to protect us is not to jeopardize our jobs.

I hope he loses.
