Letter from a Life Long Republican

Obama to me Was Being President Obama as he said over and over again, "When I am President". As someone who Trains Leaders in Fortune 500 companies for over 30 years, my Listening and Assessment was on 4 things:

1.) Executive/Presidential Presence

2.) Authenticity - Speaking the Truth from their Heart

3.) Content - Is what they are Saying matching what they Do and Who They Are Being.

4.) Which Candidate is in the Future and which Candidate is in the Past or relying on the Past.

Overall Who can I trust as our next President in these extremely challenging and difficult times.

As most of my family knows, I have been a Republican all of my life and have Never voted for a Democrat. Mostly because that is what I have known, that is what I have been familiar with and that is what I did. All the way up to early this spring, I was going to vote for McCain because of his "Experience". But then something happened for me. Don't know when, or what exactly happened that is not important. Something changed, and I immediately knew that I would take a chance, try something new and Vote not just the Democratic Way but Vote for Barack Obama, the Man the Leader of True Change.

I saw, heard and felt Barack Obama's Presidential Presence, Authenticity, and I could see over time that he was Walking His Talk. Every single Breakdown from the whole Pastor incident, to people accusing him of not being African American, questioning his Patriotism, and actually saying out loud, that they would "Never Vote for a Black Man for President." , He has handled the same way over and over again, which has Inspired me to want him as My next President.

He steps up to the plate, acknowledges what is being said, tells the truth and then gets All of us BACK ON THE ISSUES THAT HE STANDS FOR. The experience that John McCain has I believe will actually be a Distraction
for us getting our Country back on track, because I think he uses his Past Experience too much in the Present to create the Future. He relies on it and uses it like a Weapon to scare people and put people in fear..If we don't vote for him, no one else is qualified, based on what he has been through, which is not True..

Although I think John McCain is a good citizen, I think he has done amazing things as a Senator, I do not think he is Really that different than George Bush, I really don't. I cannot even imagine at this point with the Financial Situation we are in as a country John McCain stepping in with Sarah Palin to be the Leaders of our country.

The debate was amazing. I agree with all of your insights on body language, making eye contact, have respect for each other as you go through these Debates. I do not think John McCain was doing any of those things. I think he continued to attack and defend vs. seriously communicate to Barack Obama, look him in the eyes and talk. The way in which Barack Obama conducted himself last night, Will be the way he will Conduct himself with World Leaders. He will bring us together in the long run. I don't feel John McCain is committed to bringing us together as a Nation and restoring our Reputation World Wide. He is much more hard core, push and pull, in or out, and and not flexible enough, which I think we need in these times..

I believe it is critical for Everyone of us to vote. We also need to have Faith. We cannot get resigned as Americans. These times are tough and effecting each and everyone of us in some way. AND having said that, it is our job to Listen, learn and take a stand one way or the other. I believe THIS TIME, the way is Barack Obama, this time We Need Change. The only way to do that is allow the Republicans to complete their time in the White House, honor them as best we can for the Great things they have done over the 8 years. Focus on the Accomplishments and positive results George Bush produced and then have our President leave with Honor and Respect. Then we all need to move on to the FUTURE with the Democratic Party, along with Republicans, Independants and all of us TOGETHER MAKING THIS CHANGE. REMEMBER BARACK SAID WE ARE NOT BLUE OR RED WE ARE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. IN THE END WE NEED TO BE ONE,
NOT TWO, NOT THREE, BUT ONE..I AM HIGHLY COMMITTED TO THIS CONCEPT AS THIS IS WHAT I do at at my job and Everywhere I go. One Culture, One Team. Right now, we are against
each other too much and in the end, whoever Wins., we all need to GET ALIGNED AND EMPOWER THAT PERSON AND COME TOGETHER..

Thank's everyone for reading this. I am talking to people every day. Most people here where I live are registered to vote. I am just asking everyone to Please Vote, no matter what, because in the End, it is us the American People who are putting the next person in the White House no one else!

thanks for posting it. I love it when someone like this person gets an epiphany about who john mccain really is and just what is the potential of Barack Obama.

3. Most of my Repub friends have very luke warm support for McLame

I really believe McLame will experience the "Bradly Effect"
People saying they will vote for him
will pull the lever for Obama

2. Drip, drip, drip

Many who have voted Repuke as much out of force of habit as anything else are waking up to the fact that we are in deep trouble. Things need to change. Grampy promises more of the same. Only Barack Obama promises change and has the intelligence and skills to make it happen. We are currently balanced on a razor's edge and it is Obama who has the vision, maturity and thoughtfulness to pull us back from the brink. Smart people see this.

I predict that an awful lot of folks who hadn't previously considered voting, or voting for a Democrat, are going to contribute to the impending Obama landslide.

7. On the second point

I'm watching a documentary on Linktv right now. It's Obama in Africa. He and his wife set an example by publicly being tested for aids. And the people of the community were eased by that. Many people who would not have done so were tested.

Watching him in this documentary is overwhelming with inspiration.

I just want to say that given the right leader, the economy is not nearly as important as the human, societal aspects.

And from the beginning of his campaign I knew he would be inspiring people such as your forum friend.

This is the mountaintop. Now I know what he meant.
