Argued with two clueless co-workers today.....I CANNOT BELIEVE PEOPLE! |
|
The bailout came up in a meeting...... I swear it is like they are speaking some other language or lived in some other country the last 4 years....... For your enjoyment, here is come of their brilliant comments:
This started with Carter! Clinton caused most of the issue by letting poor people borrow money for houses! Clinton got "lucky" with his economic plan. He did nothing to help it. Obama is all flash and says nothing Palin could debate Obama on foreign policy and do as well as McLame The democratic house and senate caused the problem in the last 16 months! Palin is not a religious nut Etc.......
I finally realized it was like trying to teach Algebra to my dog. Nothing I could say would help.
Wow.....wow....wow.......am I scared for this country!

Last weekend I was watching MSNBC in the family lobby of the ICU while my mom was struggling for life. While some fucknut 'friend' of hers ordered me to change the 'garbage' I was watching. I said, 'excuse me?'. She said to get that trash off the tv, and turn to HGTV or something. Completely confused, I responded that I was waiting to listen to a speech coming up. She asked who - I responded Obama. She blasts that she has no interest in him, he just wants to kill babies. Keep in mind - again, my mom is in a fully sedated and intubated/ventilator state down the hall - AND 4 years ago, I lost one of my twin boys shortly after birth at 23 wks (no family secret or anything). And she keeps yelling over me, "He wants to kill babies, he wants to kill babies" - then decides to argue with me about my a variety of things associated with the loss of my own child. To which I told her to be quiet, because she had me so angry I was shaking. Never in my life have I ever wanted to cause physical harm to someone as I did at that moment. It was like the worst possible internet argument - in person.
Later she put the icing on the cake by telling my 17 yo sister that unless she says these certain prayers, god won't listen to her. My sister is half my age and really struggling with all this. I live 3 hrs away, and haven't had to watch my mom go down hill over the years like she has. After I heard about this, I really wanted to just run her over with my car. Fortunately for her, I haven't seen her since, but I do go back down there for a few days this later this week. Before leaving, I also had a sign put up on my mom's room that only family could enter. The woman complained about it, tough. The sign is still there.

14. Well, when my mom gets better. |
|
Which she now is, just VERY slowly... I'll make sure that the woman is not allowed to pollute our lives any more. It's one thing what she did to me, but what she said to my sister just took the cake.

11. They're probably beyond hope, but you could try being amused rather than angry |
|
I think idiots like that feed off of anger. What I'd do everytime they said something like that is just smile and say, "Where'd you hear that one? On Fox or Limbaugh?" Then when they told you just look secretly amused and change the subject. After they don't get a rise out of you and you keep it up everytime, they'll finally ask you what's so funny. You can then say, "Well, it seems most people have figured out by now that Fox and Limbaugh are a bad joke." Then look at them with pity that they've been so slow to catch on. Sort of like how Obama's been able to get under McCain's skin.

22. I argued with a cashier today (over the border in NH) - ugh. |
|
He overheard me commenting to the guy in front of me that I liked the greeting card he was buying that had "01-20-09 Bush's Last Day" on it. The card buyer let me read the inside. It was a funny Halloween card and we were both joking about which of us was looking forward to the day more. The cashier butt in and told us that the media gives Bush the bad rap... that all that is wrong in our country was the fault of presidents that preceeded Bush (he said all the problems started with Nixon).... that good things are happening in Iraq and that Bush deserves credit for that - at which point the card-buying-guy and myself both told him we never should have gone into Iraq to begin with. The card-buying-guy then went on to tell us he was a veteran that had been in Vietnam, Gulf War, served for 22 years and that the country is all messed up and Bush is the worst president this country has ever had. The cashier talked about his buddy that had been to Iraq and knew we had done the right thing to go in. The veteran left after buying his card, not wanting to get into it any further with the cashier. As the cashier took care of my stuff, we continued the conversation. He told me that the WMDs were taken away thru tunnels and when I asked him about weapons inspectors, special ops units, Osama bin Laden, etc... he had nothing to say. Nor did he have anything to say about the Bush disasters here at home. But he was CERTAIN there were WMD (things were found that people can NEVER know about) and that we should be grateful to Bush for all he has done to keep us safe. He also KNOWS that the REAL bad people are in Iran. I went back and forth with him for a while before leaving, then looked to see if the vet was still around ...
for a while after all that all i could think was >>> 01-20-09 can't come fast enough. :patriot:
