Former Paul supporter explains why he's now backing Obama
GOP nominated the wrong man, making Obama the best choice for November

Vote in poll (open through Oct. 6) pitting Obama against Paul
http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/1411759-ron-paul

Excerpt from column:
"On the other hand, Obama has the potential to be a profoundly effective reformer in the tradition of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Rather than campaigning on the premise that government doesn’t work so no one should expect government to get anything right, Obama knows that government can get things right - like Social Security - when the people who make up that government believe in the integrity of their mission and their ability to carry it out. Lest we forget, Reagan himself was a great admirer of FDR, even going so far as to tell other Republicans not to denigrate Roosevelt in his presence.

In 1932, American needed a man like FDR; in 1980, it needed a man like Reagan. In 2008, it needs a man like Paul or a man like Obama (depending on one's politics) but the last thing it needs is someone unstable, erratic and given to childish whims. The last thing America needs is John McCain in the Oval Office."

1. I think Obama got most of the Paul voters.
What is the consensus around here about Ron Paul? I know he's a right-wing REpublican and all, but I really liked his anti-Patriot Act type positions. I wish Obama would talk more about that kind of stuff.

2. Obama DID talk that way in the primaries
It's the old move-toward-the-center approach for the General Election. Don't rock the boat so much, etc. Project calm confidence. Which is why it is so odd that McCain is in such a panic these days, whether he wants to call his approach a tactic or a strategy.

I also think it's interesting to note that both Paul and Kucinich voted against the bailout, which just goes to show there is room for agreement even when the parties disagree on so much. BTW, Paul & Kucinich were also both against the war in Iraq.

3. In 1980 america did not need Ronnie Reagan
The asshole who started the war on poor, unions, gays. Don't forget asshole worm food also pandored to the wing nuts, traded drugs for guns, busted unions, started the drive for businesses to off shore, sold america to the highest bidder. Fuck Reagan, piece of republicon shit, personal greed was what he was about and screw the main street working man, his rich asshole buddies were much more important then main street. Oh yeah don't forget 8 years of aids is a gay illness and just shows god is out to destroy gays.

Reagan years the start of the melt down we have today on Wall street. To say Reagan was such a great man is pure horse shit and america did not need or want Reagan, though he had assholes that thought he walked on water but they had their heads shoved so far up his ass the methane effected their brain cells. All of america's woes were not from welfare moms, they were from CEO's trying to screw the pooch. Anyone that thinks Reagan was a great man and ahead of his time needs to see a shrink because reality isn't a concept they understand. America in 1980 needed Reagan BULL SHIT.
