Paulson sure didn't give AIG a sweetheart deal- reassuring link |

I agree with Sullivan- I think Paulson gets some benefit of the doubt for the tough bargain he ran with AIG. He doesn't seem to be in this to bail out corporations- I've heard conservatives say he's a closet Democrat. http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/09/the-aig-bailout.html

1. It's more like machinations about who they want to succeed and who they want to take down. |

Bear Stearns was taken down deliberately and given to JP Morgan Chase. Some will be propped up to become the big fat giant banks, and some will be taken over because the powers-that-be want their assets. It's sheer consoldation of power happening right before our very eyes.

of the very flawed system. I felt bad for him when he knelt before Nancy and begged her to save the bailout deal, and then again when he developed shortness of breath. He's under a lot of stress--much of this rides on his shoulders, as it should (unlike, say, the Bush/Cheney administration, which never takes responsibility for anything and sleeps well at night).
