Anyone else not watching cable news or paying attention to the freak show?
I've decided to shut it all off and just canvass, make calls, paint Obama/Biden signs and convince as many people as I know to vote for Obama. I can't listen anymore. I'm totally burnt out, disgusted and feel like all this crap is pulling my attention away from the real stuff. Information overload and I'm not sure what the truth is anymore.

In other words, I'm walking away from the drama. Am I alone? I hope not.

10. that's good though
maybe she would have slid under the radar if they weren't exposing her like they are. Everyone is getting plenty of opportunity to see what a fraud she is.

She's like living next to a dump that you're forced to smell all day and all night.

They've never worked so hard in their lives until Sarah Palin was picked for VP.

9. I'm burnt out
but I'm trying to take every opportunity to point out the hideousness farce of the McCain Palin ticket. I'll rest after the election.

They do make it hard though. There are too many lies every day to counter.

26. We all have our part to play
for some, it's relentlessly pointing out the ridiculousness of Sarah Palin, for others it's pro-Obama activity. Together we'll make it!

So the only news I have a clue about is whats posted in DU. All I have to say is screw news. Btw, I also stopped reading news papers for the same reason I stopped watching news, it isn't news anymore its spin spin and more spin.

16. Not alone...but I left the country so I'm not really in the same boat.
I'm with you, but I left the US for Canada last week. Yes I still care.

The primary season was grueling on its own, and the last few weeks seems like some sort of nightmare when a bunch of people that didn't care before are now the same people that are running the issues/dialogue.

TV in general is just such bullshit. I read my Jerry Mander, Beaudrillard, MacLuhan years ago, and was sort of like everyone else that didn't feel like what they were saying was real. That naivete is so over for me now. TV is too expensive to produce, and requires lowest-common-denominator programming to function as a business (lucrative or not). Our politics reflects this 1:1.

Start reading the Financial Times. It might seem difficult at first, and ocassionaly some of the columnists seem to just cut/paste from American punditry, but the information in that paper equals a month or two of listening to cable news or talk radio. So many stories that are more interesting, and which show where the really power is and is going. I know its expensive, but look for a subscription on amazon.

America is doggy-paddling every night on TV/Radio. It's getting really sad.

But have limited cable to Olbermann and Maddow. I'm simply sick of the Palin circus. Jeebus, that bitch needs to go the fuck away.

18. I don't have a TV! I never had trouble! I don't need it!
So I think you are doing the right thing. You came up with an intelligent choice.

I only figure out what is going on in the "propaganda world" by coming here and read about those never ending drama on TV...

Unless we start creating a real journalistic TV network, why waste your time on junk info and freak out.

20. Information over-load for sure..
with me..from reading everyone and his brother's opinion of why, if, how, we need or do not need a 'bailout'. I get a little hepped up before, during, and after any debate, so this flim-flam was very taxing.

22. Palin has been practically ASKED by Republican females to step down....
... will she? Who knows. If she does, it'll be like this: "I am saddened to have to say this, but I have decided to stay home and take care of my baby, Trig. I have realized that being a mom is far more important to me than being vicepresident and Trig needs me right now. No one asked me to resign. It was my own decision....." (etc etc)

I think McCain must be spewing venom at how STUPID Palin has turned out to be, and the campaign just doesn't know what to do at this point.

25. Gave Up On Broadcast/Cable News Long Ago
First I (very easily) stopped watching the local news, now I can't stand watching more than a couple of minutes of the national news. Each channel/station has their own biased spin and it makes me dizzy trying to keep all of their crap straight. With all that is going on, who needs the extra drama??? I'm with you graywarrior!

:toast:
