You know, when you have very low expectations for something they rarely meet them. |

Therefore Palin's performance could well be better than expected. I'm sure they've been squirrelling her away with some very, VERY intensive training. When she debates on Thursday, she will be more coherent by far than any of the previous interviews. Even if she gives even barely adequate answers it will come across as a startlingly strong performance because of low expectations.
Everyone will focus on her much more than Biden also. She's the big question mark everyone wants to see. Biden is a big question mark for most people too but they aren't that interested in getting a clear answer. People will be voting for Obama not Biden but on the other side people will be voting for Palin, not McCain.
So it's fun to anticipate a disaster for her but I expect it won't be nearly as bad as we expect and for people leaning towards the right, it might even win some of their votes.
---
But I HOPE she gets embarassed at her inability to answer questions and runs off the stage crying.

2. I've been trying to raise our expectations here, but most people have been dumbing her down. |
|
And so has the media. I expect her to acquit herself well.

4. Yes, I have my suspicions too. She used to be a sportcaster so there is no room for complacency. |

7. She might be able to half way monkey Lieberman |
|
through an earpiece. She's probably used to that from newscasts.
Other than that she's pretty dicey.

8. I figured her for an idiot when I heard she thinks dinosaurs & humans co-existed, but I have to say |
|

that she has thoroughly EXCEEDED my expectations.
She's a MAJOR idiot. Only way she comes out of this debate looking even halfway competent is if they rig her up with a wireless gizmo, like they did with Bush in 2004.
Which they probably will do.

9. Sadly, I agree with you. |

Well, I don't know that it'll win her votes, but I suspect it'll stanch the hemorrhaging somewhat. At this point she is such a laughingstock that if she is able to remain in a basically upright position and string a couple of coherent thoughts together, she'll be seen as having done "surprisingly well." She'll probably throw a couple of nifty "zingers" aimed at our guys and her snark will be misinterpreted as "spunk," or she'll be called "gutsy and determined." She'll see herself as having proved the "elite liberal press" wrong. She'll probably get her confidence back as a result of the whole fiasco, that's how simultaneously arrogant and clueless she is.
I won't be watching it because I just can't bear to hear her voice, actually her whole demeanor irritates me beyond all reason. I'm hoping for a disaster, but I am not anticipating one.

11. CSPAN showed her debates in Alaska |
|
right after she got picked and while she's certainly a morAn...she's a good debater. It's foolish and dangerous to assume that she won't do well.

12. The curve breaks at one point though |
|
And people stop looking at you overbearingly and start going "Not again".
And Palin has crossed into that territory. She has no room for error - The press will be sitting with knives sharpened, waiting to pounce.
