Obama is being set up - Senate to vote on Bail-Out TODAY

This was posted LBN

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/financial_meltdown

WASHINGTON - President Bush's plan to rescue U.S. financial markets is headed for a Senate vote Wednesday night after leaders there agreed to add tax breaks for businesses and the middle class and increase deposit insurance in an attempt to revive the legislation rejected by the House.

The surprise move by Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., appeared likely to win a big vote in the Senate that would put pressure on the House to go along and send the measure to the White House.

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama and his GOP rival, John McCain, planned to fly to Washington for the Senate vote, as did Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Adding a set of popular business tax breaks and legislation to prevent more than 20 million middle-class taxpayers from feeling the bite of the alternative minimum tax promised to win House GOP votes for the plan even as it angered moderate "Blue Dog" Democrats concerned about the tax cuts adding to the deficit.

More at the link at the top....

No one wants this bail out. The Republicans are going to make Obama bear the burden of voting yes on this HORRENDOUS bill, McCain will vote against it, and he will run ads stating he is the real maverick....

Harry Reid is such a STUPID asshole. We FINALLY had a chance to pass a bill that would actually solve the problem, and Reid not only caves - he screws over the Obama campaign in the process.

CALL YOUR SENATORS AND TELL THEM NO FUCKING WAY. This bill SUCKS - they just through us a teeny tiny bone. Call Obama and tell him to LEAD.

1. McCain will, almost certainly vote for it, and Obama knows what he's
doing. Despite all you "oh noes, it's a trap" people, Obama has done quite well avoiding pitfalls. oh, and your hysterical posts don't help anything.

2. 141 more posts and you'll have 40k
That's pretty impressive - there are 128,000 user registrations, and 40 million posts on DU, and you have 1/1000th of them

:D

21. I have to agree!
Senator Obama is NOT, by ANY means, naive. He knows what he is doing. His speech on the subject yesterday showed knowledge of the complexities of the issue, and displayed real leadership, rather than the political pandering of the other side.

3. Relax. McCain is voting for it also.
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 05:52 AM by DCBob
McCain spoke earlier Tuesday at an economic roundtable in Des Moines, Iowa. "...we have to get this job done for America." "To state the obvious, we are in the greatest financial crisis of our lifetimes. Congressional inaction has put every American and the entire economy at the gravest risk. Yesterday, the country and the world looked to Washington for leadership, and Congress once again came up empty-handed," he said. "Bipartisanship is a tough thing; never more so when you're trying to take necessary but publicly unpopular action. But inaction is not an option."

5. McCain SAYING he'll vote for, and voting for, are two diff things
The way McCain has been so erratic lately, McCain could call a press conference minutes before the vote, declare he'll vote for it, and then walk in the chamber and vote against it.

7. Yes, anything is possible with this lunatic but he will just dig his grave deeper.
We need this bill. Obama and most Senators will vote for it and the House will pass it as well. It will become law by the end of the week. What McCain does or does not do is becoming increasingly irrelevant.

24. If this was his first gimmick, it probably would have had an effect.
But his behavior has labeled him erratic, which isn't good. Another erratic gimmick is not going to work for him.

8. Business tax cuts...
Isn't this whole fiasco just another fancy way of saying a huge business tax cut...

And tinkering with the AMT without looking at other crappy tax situations really does no good for true tax reform...

Jesus Christ, can't these fuckers just do one thing at a time instead of putting all this "lipstick" on a pit bull of economic bullshit...

14. Don't worry, this poster keeps freaking out about the bailout bill
We will see what some say when the credit market completely dries up and businesses start laying people off.

15. I disagree
Yes, people were upset about the bailout originally, but that was before a major US bank went down. Now this issue hits home. The American people may not be up on their history but everybody with a high school education knows that when banks start failing, the shit has hit the fan.
