Here's why I think Palin couldn't answer Couric on newspapers.

If she had said "NY Times" or "Washington Post" Couric might have asked her what she thought of their columnists. Since she doesn't read those papers and never has she would truly be stymied and saying "You know, whatshisname!" It was better to say she read them "all." It forestalled any embarrassing follow up questions by Couric...

NY Times, and USA Today to familiarize herself with some of the editorials... Personally, the more Sarah speaks, the less inclined I am to think she could even read the NY Times without a dictionary and a clue (meaning someone telling her what it all means.) People say she's smart, but had to hire a town manager to handle the budget of a town with 7000 people... I really don't think that she's all that smart... I mean in college, she had to go to a community college to get her grades up, so that she could return to the university...

She probably had no idea which papers might be acceptable to name, so, rather than giving the wrong answer, yet again, she took the safe route and named nothing...:dunce:

5. She'd be better off just answering honestly..

That she reads her local Alaskan paper, and really prefers to catch most of her news on T.V. because it's all she has time for. THAT answer although not perfect.. would have been 1000% better then "I read them all" which is obviously a fabrication.. no one reads every newspaper.. and frankly if she has that kind of time - then Alaska should be concerned.

She knows there's newspapers and newsmagazines out there but since she doesn't read them she's clueless as to the names of them, much less any of the writers for them.

(I was delighted to see she had Rachel on in the background as she did a project...they had just aired the Palin clip)
