**TIME Poll ** Obama 50%, McCain 43% as of 10/1/08
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 12:19 PM by FrenchieCat
Key points:

No Democrat has crossed the 50% threshold in the general election since before Ronald Reagan was elected, let alone done so a month before the election.

23% of McCain supporters say they might change their mind, while only 15% of Obama's say they could be persuaded to switch.

Voters give Obama a 45% to 37% edge over McCain as the better equipped candidate to handle the economic crisis.

23% of those who watched the first presidential debate said it made them more likely to vote for Obama, while 16% said they were more likely to vote for McCain.

Also dragging McCain down: President Bush's approval rating is 23%, the lowest number ever found in the poll.

TIME Poll: Women Flocking Back to Obama

New national numbers find McCain is losing female voters “faster than Sarah Palin attracted them after the Republican convention.”

Among women: Obama 55, McCain 38.
After McCain picked Palin they were virtually tied Obama 48, McCain 47. Before GOP convention Obama led 49 to 39.

Dates conducted: Sept. 26-29. Error margin: 3 points.

6. The trends look good. Very soon these leads will harden and then
McCain will be spinning his wheels on sand.

7. So the McCain people "might" change their mind, while the...
...Obama people have to be persuaded! Since they're counting on Sarah doing the persuading......I think we're okay.
