Conservative columnist Kathleen Parker gets a taste of the rabid right-wingers' scorn
"Speak correctly or build a big bunker"
by Kathleen Parker

>>>>WASHINGTON — Allow me to introduce myself. I am a traitor and an idiot. Also, my mother should have aborted me and left me in a Dumpster, but since she didn't, I should "off" myself.

Those are just a few nuggets randomly selected from thousands of e-mails written in response to my column suggesting that Sarah Palin is out of her league and should step down.>>>> snip

>>>>Palin's fans say they like her specifically because she's an outsider, not part of the Washington club. When she flubs during interviews, they identify with that too. "You see the lack of polish, we applaud it," one reader wrote.

Of course, there's a difference between a lack of polish and a lack of coherence. Some of Palin's interview responses can't even be critiqued on their merits because they're so nonsensical. "Let Sarah be Sarah" has become the latest rallying cry among my colleagues on the right. She'll be fine if we just leave her alone, they say. Between prayers, I might add.>>>>

Parker is pretty worthless, but maybe seeing the nastiness of her party's base up close, after she "dared" to step out of line, will be an educational experience for her. The Dixie Chicks shout-out at the end of the column is certainly progress on this front...

1. She deserves any scorn they heap on her. And to think that any of them can "learn" is deluded.

2. She sounds surprised! So busy being a good propagandist
she hasn't noticed the actual danger non-line-toers are in every day from domestic political terrorists of the conservative stripe. I remember the bellicosity leading up to the Iraq war. People get into fightin' mood QUICK when the patriotism flag flies.

Pretty dangerous being a Kerry supporter in 2004 ("how can you say that about the president when we have TROOPS IN HARMS WAY?" No matter that we pretty much have ALWAYS had troops in harms way just by maintaining a peacetime military.)

Kathleen Parker gets no sympathy from me- she helped set the stage for the imperial presidency with all the trimmings, including violent partisan rule.

3. "...my mother should have aborted me and left me in a Dumpster..."
I think they need to track down the member of their base who sent the above email message because they've gone off the reservation.

Anyhoo, I know you all say "she got what she deserved" but think of it more like this:
She is exposing their attitude and talking points. There may be someone who reads this article and has a second-thought about voting for the McPalin ticket.
